In the aftermath of the theft, the local law enforcement agency took swift action and arrested four individuals connected to the crime. One of these detainees was a notorious character with a criminal record and a former resident of Tihar Jail. It was believed that this person was instrumental in planning and executing this audacious criminal endeavor. He influenced the events leading up to the robbery and played a chief role in its commission.

The detailed report of the incident, which happened around the afternoon post-lunch hours, was given by the owner of the textile shop. Two people, with a clear and destructive intent, burst into the owner’s office. They brought out their weapons and shot them off before swiftly making away with all the money they could find. Their audacity extended to having a third partner in crime who stood sentinel outside to facilitate the smooth execution of the crime.

The local police station responded swiftly to the distress call they received regarding the robbery. Several teams were immediately assembled and dispatched to capture the culprits responsible for this outrageous theft. Using all available tools at their disposal, they studied the case in greater detail to map out a strategy for apprehending the criminals involved.

Central to the police’s investigation was surveillance footage from the textile shop where the crime transpired. The visual evidence pointed out that after fleeing the crime scene, the robbers used Bagh Diwar Masjid as their next waypoint. Relying heavily on this lead, the investigation team followed the trail that the thieves had inadvertently left behind.

Continuing their pursuit, the police found that the culprits had taken a detour with an auto-rickshaw found near the Old Delhi Railway Station. This clue was significant as it led the police to Shahdara, a locality in Old Delhi, where they pressed the driver for more information.

The pursuit did not end in Shahdara. The suspects, according to further revelations, had made their way to Loni within Ghaziabad, and then on to Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh. The breadcrumb trail that they were leaving behind was taking the police personnel on a chase across various places.

As part of their chase, the local authorities circulated images of the culprits in the Baghpat area. The move paid off as one person fit the description perfectly. The identification helped the police make their first arrest, who was found to have popular connections.

The captured individual led the police to another suspect, who was apprehended in a place called Indira Colony. Upon arresting him, the law enforcement agency was able to recover Rs 13 lakh of the stolen cash, slicing away a portion of the victory the criminals had initially enjoyed.

The investigation picked pace based on the information provided by the arrested man in Indira Colony. This additional input led to the arrest of another suspect, from whom the police were able to reclaim a further Rs 6.5 lakh. These back-to-back successes were a major boost for the authorities involved in the case.

The digital world also aided the police in bringing the culprits to justice. The law enforcement agency made an important discovery when they trailed one of the suspects via his social media account. The virtual clue led them to a place in Rohtak, Haryana.

Upon reaching Rohtak, the police succeeded in arresting the suspect identified via social media. Now in the custody of law enforcement, this man had Rs 7.8 lakh with him – a substantial chunk of the stolen amount. This breakthrough further contributed towards the police’s resolve to nab all the participants in the crime.

Pressing further with their investigation, the police, with the aid of a confession from the arrested suspect, found a fourth accomplice. This man, also found in Rohtak, had Rs 6.5 lakh on him. Upon arresting him, the police found crucial information that suggested a deep-seated connection between the crime and his past.

It came to light that this suspect was an old inmate of Tihar Jail – a penitentiary known for its hardened criminals. He had been in that prison until 2023 for a previous act of robbery. It was during this incarceration that he encountered a fellow inmate who later became his associate in the Chandni Chowk crime.

Their nexus was only deepened when the inmate shared his social media ID with the robbery’s orchestrator, thereby facilitating their connection. The orchestration of the crime had come to full circle as, following this association, the accomplice carried out a detailed reconnaissance of the showroom prior to the theft, planning details with the rest of the group. Post the crime, they escaped to Baghpat and divided their ill-gotten spoils among themselves.
