Champion Racing Association Street Stocks Return for Round Two at Anderson Speedway

This upcoming weekend will witness the return of the highly anticipated Champion Racing Association Street Stocks. A second round of intense 150-lap races is expected to dominate the Anderson Speedway. This competition holds excitement not only for seasoned viewers, but also for those unaware of the high-adrenaline sport due to the participation of numerous divisions.

Competing alongside the Street Stocks, we also have the Late Models, the Knapp Supply Ford Division, and the Thunder Roadsters. Each of these groups bring their own unique elements to the competition, making this weekend’s event promising for every motor racing enthusiast.

The much-awaited competition, known amongst enthusiasts as the Tom Wood 150, signifies the penultimate visit of the touring division to the iconic Anderson Speedway. For those who follow the sport, this event holds much anticipation and excitement.

The precedence of grandeur was solidified in the previous 150-lap race, with Dalton Conner taking home the winning trophy and Andrew Teepe closely following as the second-place contender. The event was not without surprise as Josh Ebbert Jr. notably held steady amid a race where attrition among the frontrunners was the game’s name.

Last year bore witness to Ryan Amonett and Teepe achieving wins during a similar pair of 150-lap races. This history just adds another layer of intense rivalry and fascination to the upcoming competition this weekend.

Competitor Brett Hudson has proven his prowess since 2019, having swept three extended races under his belt. He isn’t the only one to ascend the victory stand, with Dalton Conner, Chuck Barnes Jr., and James Kirby III also gracing the winner’s podium.

Interestingly, the current point leader is Alan Williams, who accomplished his inaugural Anderson Speedway win with the CRA Street Stocks in a thrilling 75-lap race on April 26th. Close behind in point counts are dedicated competitors Duane Damon and Phil Jenkins, ensuring suspense that remains until the final checkered flag is waved.

Local favorites Ebbert, Kirby, and Andrew Cook are significant contenders, all ranking among the top ten in the series point standings. Their participation adds further excitement and a distinct touch of local flavor to this stellar weekend event.

With two victories already under his belt this season with the Vores Welding & Steel Street Stocks, Kirby has emerged as a formidable opponent. Meanwhile, Cook trailing with two second-place finishes, promises to generate a riveting spectator experience.

Fans of the Late Model division are also in for a treat, with the return of defending champion Jeff Marcum. Not only has he claimed two victories thus far, but he also saw Jason Shively stand twice as the runner-up. This dynamic lends an air of suspense to the division’s performances.

Marcum further intensifies the competition with three season wins, including a notable achievement in the CRA Sportsman Late Model category. Yet, the spotlight doesn’t entirely belong to him; Nash Engdahl seized the third annual Madison County 200 title in the touring Sportsman Late Models, adding another layer of competition.

The Knapp Supply Ford Division is also raring to return to the oval after the electrifying 76th National Crown Figure-8 race last weekend. The race, marked by Curtis Chapman’s win, also saw outstanding performances from additional contenders like Colin Grissom, Caleb Burge, and Randy Owen.

The competition is heating up, with qualifying set to kick off at 5:45 p.m. and the ultimate race commencing at 7:30 p.m. This weekend promises to be another unforgettable chapter in the saga of motor racing at Anderson Speedway.
