DeSantis Reveals What Battles He Wants To Tackle Next As Governor

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made it clear Friday night that he’s not slowing down, telling a packed room of conservative state lawmakers that he plans to stay on “offense” and push even further in reshaping Florida’s future.

During his keynote address at the State Freedom Caucus Summit in Texas, DeSantis laid out an unapologetically bold agenda: end vaccine mandates, expand medical freedom, and eventually eliminate property taxes altogether.

“Not Leaving Anything For The Next Guy”

“I didn’t get in there to be mushy on policy,” DeSantis told the audience at the Omni Las Colinas Hotel just outside Dallas. “I knew what I believed. I told people what I was going to do.” Reflecting on his first day in office, he added, “I said, I don’t know what SOB’s going to succeed me in this office, but they are not going to have anything to do.”

It’s a statement that drew laughter and applause — but also underscored the scale of transformation he’s implemented in Florida.

Medical Freedom And Vaccine Mandates In Crosshairs

Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo recently announced that the state would pursue the elimination of all vaccine mandates — including for schoolchildren — as part of a broader push for medical freedom. DeSantis reiterated that position Friday, emphasizing that no government should coerce treatment.

“You can’t claim to own your body and then say the government can force injections,” DeSantis said, slamming federal overreach during the pandemic.

DeSantis Hints At Ending Property Taxes

Perhaps the most ambitious policy floated by the Florida governor was his criticism of the state’s property tax system. “You don’t truly own your home if you have to pay rent to the government forever,” he argued. While no specific legislative plan was announced, the statement signaled DeSantis may be gearing up to tackle long-standing property tax policy.

Record Of Conservative Wins: DEI, Disney, Education

The Florida governor also recapped his well-known battles — from banning DEI in public colleges, to fighting Disney’s political activism, to eliminating radical gender ideology from classrooms.

“I think woke ideology is toxic whether it’s being imposed by a government agency or whether it’s being imposed by a multinational corporation. I think it’s wrong,” he said.

He also praised the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals for allowing Florida to keep operating the Everglades-based illegal alien detention center nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz,” which had been targeted by leftist activists and judges.

“Every time I get out of bed in the morning, I get sued by the Left,” DeSantis said. “But we don’t flinch. We know we’ll win on appeal.”

Partnering With Trump On Immigration Enforcement

DeSantis confirmed that Florida is working closely with President Trump to open more illegal alien detention centers as part of a nationwide crackdown on the border crisis. “We’re partnering with the Trump administration to do what Biden refused to do,” he stated.

Conservative Governance That Produces Results

DeSantis ended with a message to lawmakers across red states: keep going.

“None of this is cost free, but it’s worth it,” he said. “And what we are doing in these states by showing that conservative policies work — that people vote with their feet — that is the best possible evidence we can produce to show this is the way forward. Not just for us, but for our kids and our grandkids.”
