Dr. Oz Rushes To Help Woman Who Collapsed During Trump’s Kentucky Speech
Dr. Mehmet Oz rushed to assist after a woman collapsed during President Donald Trump’s speech in Kentucky on Wednesday, prompting a brief pause in the event while first responders provided medical care.
The incident occurred about halfway through Trump’s remarks at Verst Logistics in Hebron, Kentucky, when an older woman standing behind the president’s riser appeared to require medical attention.
Trump immediately stopped speaking and asked the crowd if a doctor was present.
“Do we have a doctor in the house? Take your time, please,” Trump said as the situation unfolded behind him.
Emergency personnel quickly reached the woman, including Dr. Oz, who currently serves as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Trump turned around and watched as the medical team worked to help the woman.
“First responders are incredible,” the president said as emergency personnel assisted her.
During the pause, Trump asked staff backstage if they could play music while the woman received treatment.
“Do you think the people backstage are listening to me?” Trump asked the crowd before suggesting that “Ave Maria” be played.
The song did not play, and Trump continued observing the scene as first responders treated the woman.
“Take your time,” Trump said. “She looks great.”
As the woman was eventually escorted away by medical personnel, Trump noticed that Dr. Oz had joined the responders helping her.
“It’s Dr. Oz! Can you believe it? Dr. Oz!” Trump said. “He’s a good doctor. Thank you, Oz.”
After roughly seven minutes, Trump resumed his speech.
Returning to his earlier remarks, the president joked about the topic he had been discussing before the interruption.
“We were talking about Gavin New-scum,” Trump said with a laugh. “Doesn’t seem like a very good subject right now. It made that young lady not feel so good.”
The moment was not the first time Oz has stepped in during a medical incident while serving in the Trump administration.
In April, a young girl fainted near the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office while Trump was speaking during Oz’s swearing in ceremony.
Oz quickly moved to assist the child, who was later confirmed to be a member of his family.
A similar moment occurred in November when a man collapsed in the Oval Office during a press conference with the president.
Oz again rushed to assist until additional medical personnel arrived.
