Far-Left Billionaire George Soros and Family Gave $71K to Trump-Hating AG Letitia James

Left-wing megadonor George Soros and his family have funneled more than $71,000 to New York Attorney General Letitia James since 2019 — including $31,000 in 2024 alone, as James eyes re-election and continues her crusade against President Donald Trump.

Campaign finance records reveal that Soros himself donated $18,000 to James in July, while his daughter-in-law Jennifer Soros contributed another $13,000 in May. The Soros family had already given $40,000 to James in prior election cycles, showing a clear and consistent alliance with the embattled Democrat.

These direct contributions don’t include the massive indirect support James benefits from through far-left groups heavily funded by Soros. His Open Society Foundation has bankrolled the Working Families Party (WFP) with nearly $24 million since 2016, and the Soros family has given New York’s WFP branch another $865,000 in direct donations since 2018.

James’ ties to the Working Families Party run deep. In 2003, she became the first WFP candidate ever elected in New York State. Although she distanced herself from the party during her 2018 bid for attorney general — choosing to run alongside then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo — she’s since returned to embrace the group’s ultra-progressive platform and secured its endorsement again in 2022.

Republican Michael Henry, who is gearing up to challenge James in 2026, blasted the Soros-James connection. “George Soros has spent years financing the radical left’s most extreme projects, and the outcome is almost always the same: instability and disorder that is destroying our state,” he said. “When the same donor who funds chaos underwrites New York’s top law enforcement office, the results speak for themselves.”

James has made national headlines for her relentless attacks on President Trump. She campaigned in 2018 on a promise to target Trump’s business dealings, and she followed through by filing a lawsuit accusing him of fraudulently inflating his net worth. But in August, Trump scored a major legal win when a New York appeals panel tossed more than $500 million in fines that James had pushed for.

While James claims to fight corruption, she hasn’t been without her own scandals. In October, she was indicted by Trump’s Justice Department on mortgage fraud charges related to a Virginia property. She pleaded not guilty, and the case was later dismissed. Attempts by the DOJ to refile charges have all failed.

Trump has long accused Soros of orchestrating a political witch hunt against him by bankrolling activist prosecutors like James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Bragg’s campaign also received Soros-linked backing. The billionaire funneled $1 million to the left-wing PAC Color of Change, which then spent over $500,000 supporting Bragg’s DA bid. Soros and his family have also donated $43,150 directly to Bragg since 2021 — including $22,500 just in the last several months.

Soros spokesman Michael Vachon refused to comment on the donations. The White House has also declined to respond to growing concerns about Soros’ influence over Democrat prosecutors waging war on Trump.
