FBI Raids Fulton County Office As Part Of 2020 Election Interference Probe

The FBI raided an election facility in Fulton County, Georgia, on Wednesday as part of an ongoing federal probe into alleged interference in the 2020 election. The raid, carried out at the Fulton County Election Hub and Operation Center in Fairburn, comes as scrutiny grows over alleged irregularities in Georgia’s largest county — a key battleground in the 2020 election.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, FBI agents were authorized to take custody of ballots from the 2020 election. The agency confirmed the raid was “court-authorized” but declined to provide further details. The facility, opened in 2023, was created to modernize election procedures in the county.

President Donald Trump has long pointed to Fulton County as a central location of alleged ballot irregularities, including claims of double-counted votes. His margin of loss in Georgia was razor-thin, and Biden’s advantage in Fulton County was a significant factor.

Last month, Fulton County officials admitted to procedural failures during the 2020 election. They revealed that 130 tabulator tapes from early in-person voting — covering more than 315,000 ballots — were unsigned, while 10 tapes were missing entirely. The admission reignited concerns about ballot integrity.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger acknowledged the irregularities but claimed they did not compromise the validity of the vote. “A clerical error at the end of the day does not erase valid, legal votes,” Raffensperger said, defending the outcome and reiterating Georgia’s voter ID laws were followed.

In a separate legal battle, the Justice Department has sued the clerk of Fulton County’s courts, arguing the office is obstructing access to documents related to the 2020 election. The DOJ says the refusal violates federal law and has launched a civil rights inquiry into Georgia’s election practices.

Fulton County had previously been the epicenter of a high-profile election case against President Trump. Democratic District Attorney Fani Willis led the 2023 indictment against Trump on racketeering charges related to election challenges. That case collapsed after it was revealed Willis had a romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, prompting a dismissal.

Trump also faced federal election-related charges from Special Counsel Jack Smith, who was appointed by the Biden administration. Smith testified recently that Georgia represented “ground zero” for Trump’s efforts to question the election results. However, after Trump won the 2024 election, Smith moved to dismiss his own case.

The raid in Fairburn adds another layer to the growing legal fallout surrounding Fulton County, the 2020 election, and the Biden-era prosecutions of Trump — many of which have since unraveled.
