Fetterman Breaks With Democrats, Backs U.S. Strikes to Cripple Iran’s Regime
Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania is once again breaking ranks with his own party—this time, by publicly endorsing U.S. military intervention against Iran’s tyrannical regime amid what he calls a “desperate and brutal crackdown” on innocent civilians.
In a Monday interview with CNN, Fetterman signaled support for potential U.S. airstrikes, echoing rhetoric that has been more closely associated with President Trump and his foreign policy hawks. “Those strikes make sense, absolutely. I do support those things,” Fetterman said, referring to rumored plans for U.S. military options currently on the table.
His comments come as the Iranian death toll continues to skyrocket, with reports suggesting the regime has slaughtered upward of 2,000 civilians—including non-protesters—in a sweeping attempt to crush nationwide anti-government unrest. Internet blackouts, mass arrests, and state-sanctioned violence have defined the regime’s response.
“They’re so desperate,” Fetterman continued. “They killed the internet, and now they’re mowing down their own citizens. Now they’re even so desperate, offering six dollars a month as some kind of a payoff now, too.”
Fetterman praised the courage of Iranian protesters and called on the United States to support their fight for freedom with more than just words. “We can all agree the world would be better, safer, and more just if you could break that regime,” he said.
His stance places him alongside conservative voices like former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who issued a fiery call for full-scale regime change. Gingrich posted on X that western leaders must go beyond mere condemnation and act decisively while the Iranian dictatorship is vulnerable. “There is no middle ground,” he wrote. “The time to act is NOW.”
The Trump administration, meanwhile, has kept military options open. President Trump has already warned Iran over the killing of protesters and suggested that air strikes could precede any diplomatic meeting. His press secretary has confirmed that all options remain on the table—including direct military action.
Fetterman’s remarks may shock the Democratic base, but they align closely with the Trump doctrine: peace through strength, accountability for tyrants, and standing shoulder to shoulder with freedom fighters—not just in word, but in deed.
As Iran’s regime grows increasingly erratic and violent, pressure is building—not just from conservatives, but now even from within Democrat ranks—to act. And if Fetterman’s voice is any indication, a bipartisan reckoning with Iran may be on the horizon.
