Gavin Newsom Threatens GOP: ‘We’re Gonna Punch These Sons-Of-Bitc*es In The Mouth’

California Governor Gavin Newsom is turning up the rhetoric, declaring in a podcast appearance that Democrats are ready to “punch these sons-of-bitches in the mouth” — a direct threat aimed at Republicans.

Newsom made the explosive comment during an appearance on The Siren podcast, co-hosted by liberal influencer Harry Sisson. Asked about redistricting in California, Newsom said, “We’re fighting fire with fire; we don’t want to do this, but… we have to.”

He then veered into a convoluted commentary, stating, “Being judged not only to have lived but to be judged watching democracy slip from right out underneath us.”

Newsom accused former President Trump of orchestrating efforts to gain congressional seats in states like Texas, Indiana, Ohio, Florida, and Missouri. “It’s just the beginning,” he warned, claiming Trump “believes he’s entitled” to five new congressional seats in Texas alone.

In response, Newsom praised California’s legislature for introducing a constitutional amendment to redraw maps mid-decade — a direct reaction to Republican-led redistricting moves elsewhere. He claimed the measure would “neuter, nullify” GOP gains and asserted that California must “shape the future” and “not be bystanders.”

Later, the governor escalated his tone: “This is radical rigging of a mid-term election. Radical rigging of an election. Destroying, vandalizing this democracy, the rule of law… We’re fighting fire with fire, and we’re gonna punch these sons-of-bitches in the mouth.”

The moment was clearly staged to present Newsom as combative and aggressive — part of a broader strategy to elevate his national profile and push back against the Republican Party’s state-level victories. It also signals that California Democrats are willing to dismantle long-standing norms like independent redistricting commissions if it serves their political ends.

Newsom’s threat — both literal and rhetorical — underscores the growing partisan hostility leading into 2026 and fuels further speculation that he is preparing for a larger role on the national stage.
