Hunter Biden is pointing fingers at top Democrats for sabotaging his father’s reelection campaign, claiming party elites turned their backs on Joe Biden and handed the 2024 election to President Donald Trump.

“We lost the last election because we did not remain loyal to the leader of the party,” Hunter said during a revealing appearance on the “At Our Table” podcast hosted by former DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. “We had the advantage of incumbency. We had the advantage of an incredibly successful administration, and the Democratic Party literally melted down.”

Hunter accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other elite power players of orchestrating the collapse of Biden’s candidacy following his disastrous debate performance against Trump in June 2024. “They had clearly made a decision,” he said, specifically calling out Pelosi for her role in the fallout.

While rank-and-file Democrats like the Congressional Black Caucus and Hispanic Caucus remained supportive, Hunter said wealthy donors and insiders in Hollywood and Washington abandoned his father at a critical moment. “You know who didn’t stand by us? The fundraisers, the elite… the people living in Beverly Hills telling you or me what it is that real people care about,” he said.

Hunter also dismissed growing concerns over his father’s mental decline, even as Biden’s physician and top aide to Jill Biden invoked the Fifth Amendment in hearings regarding the president’s cognitive state. Despite Joe Biden’s visible struggles during public appearances and his eventual withdrawal from the race, Hunter claimed, “We could have survived if it weren’t for the fact that people in the Democratic Party were not going to allow it to happen.”

He argued there was no internal conspiracy to cover up Biden’s decline, but instead a convenient narrative used by critics and political operatives. “What sells is the idea of a conspiracy,” he insisted. “What sells is a cover-up.”

Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) released a video supercut this week showing Democrat leaders and media figures defending Biden’s competency even after a string of public gaffes and alarming debate footage.

Hunter also took a swipe at Biden’s critics, claiming they simply don’t “understand” who his father is. “In their hearts these people have a hole,” he said. “They can’t understand that Joe Biden is actually who he says he is.”

President Biden has been widely criticized for false claims throughout his political career, including exaggerated stories about driving an 18-wheeler and misleading remarks about the death of his son, Beau.

Hunter’s public defense of his father adds another chapter to the Democratic Party’s ongoing reckoning over its leadership, its elite donor class, and its future heading into 2028.
