ICE Facility Shooter Left ‘ANTI-ICE’ Bullet Casings in Texas Attack, FBI Says

Federal authorities say the gunman who killed two Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees at a Dallas facility on Wednesday left behind a chilling clue: bullet casings inscribed with the words “ANTI ICE.”

FBI Director Kash Patel posted a photo of one of the casings on X, confirming the suspected political motive behind the attack. “While an investigation into the attack is ongoing, an initial review of the evidence shows an ideological motive behind this attack,” Patel said.

“This was not random. These despicable, politically motivated attacks against law enforcement are not a one-off,” he added. “We are only miles from Prairieland, Texas, where just two months ago an individual ambushed a separate ICE facility targeting their officers. It has to end.”

Authorities say the shooter opened fire from a nearby government building before turning the gun on himself. All three victims — two deceased and one injured — were ICE detainees, according to multiple reports. Their identities have not yet been released.

Rising Threats Against ICE Facilities

Wednesday’s deadly incident adds to a troubling pattern of escalating violence against ICE personnel and facilities, especially in Texas.

On July 4, a group of leftist anarchists attacked an ICE facility in Alvarado, just south of Dallas. The assailants threw fireworks to lure officers outside, then opened fire, wounding a local police officer in the neck. Authorities recovered militant-style fliers and banners promoting class warfare and anti-ICE messaging.

Weeks later, another suspect, 36-year-old Bratton Dean Wilkinson, arrived at the Dallas ICE building claiming he had a bomb in his backpack. He showed a “detonator” strapped to his wrist, forcing a lockdown.

Federal Response and Public Outcry

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem addressed Wednesday’s shooting, urging Americans to pray for the victims. “While we don’t know the motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop,” Noem said.

FBI Director Patel pledged that the Bureau would “lead these investigative efforts to see to it that those who target our law enforcement are pursued and brought to the fullest extent of justice.”

No further details about the shooter, including name or background, have been made public. ICE officials have yet to comment.

With political tensions around immigration enforcement at a boiling point, Wednesday’s attack is raising alarm in Washington and beyond — and putting renewed focus on the safety of federal agents operating across the country.
