Another member of the Indian multi-party representatives, DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, underscored the collective efforts by the team in Russia in bolstering international unity against terrorism and clarifying India’s stance following the devastating Pahalgam terror attack where 27 innocent lives were lost.

The delegation visit to Russia and other countries came in the aftermath of a ferocious attack on Hindu tourists in Pahalgam in Kashmir which eventually led to a deepened conflict between Pakistan and India. Russia’s tie with India has been historically strong and it continues to hold a significant position in diplomatic relations within the region.

Subsequent to the terror attack in Pahalgam that led to 26 casualties, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif publicly acknowledged the incident as ‘unfortunate.’ However, he foregrounded that the conflict with India that unfolded over four days posed a potential for an extremely hazardous escalation.

In the aggressive backdrop, India initiated Operation Sindoor on May 7, resulting in the dismantling of nine terror bases in Pakistan and PoK. Sharif responded by distributing financial aid to affected civilians in the conflict. He declared compensations of ?10 million each for the bereaved families and ?1-2 million for the wounded.

Additionally, monetary homage ranging from ?10-18 million, respective to their ranks, will be offered to the families of the Pakistani soldiers who died in the clashes. In the aftermath of these events, India still steadfastly upholds its zero-tolerance stand on terrorism, asserting that its action originated from a national agreement.
