Two assailants engaged in an audacious armed robbery are still at large, having successfully executed a heist that saw them seizing thousands of dollars from an armored vehicle stationed outside a bank in Queens, as reported by authorities.
These armed individuals are presently on the loose, possessing potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars which they robbed from the armored vehicle parked outside the bank in Queens, as noted in the updates from the NYPD.
The daring act of felony happened on a Monday morning, moments prior to the established opening time of 9 a.m. at the Bank of America branch on Linden Boulevard, situated within the St. Albans region of Queens.
As per the police report, the two culprits confronted not only the driver but also the armed security personnel who had arrived at the bank for purposes of making a cash deposit.
Brandishing their firearms, they relieved the vehicle of its cash assets, and even went as far as stealing a firearm from the guard, a man aged 62, as per the statement issued by the police.
Following the successful execution of their audacious plan, the duo then absconded, driving away westward on Linden Boulevard behind the wheel of a black Chevrolet.
Remarkably, despite the tension and serious nature of the incident, it was fortunate that neither of the Brinks’ employees involved had sustained any injuries during the event.
A police source expressed surprise and alarm at the incident, pointing out, ‘We haven’t encountered such a case in a significant duration.’
The source added, ‘Given that this situation involves a Bank of America branch, it is expected to be thoroughly scrutinized. Intriguing questions are going to arise; were the criminals under surveillance? Could this have been orchestrated from within?’
The police source further speculated, ‘Did an internal arrangement facilitate this incident? Is there a possibility of insiders being involved? Such a daring act, executed in broad daylight and so early in the morning, is rare and quite intriguing. It’s unusual to witness such incidents just before a bank’s operational hours.’
Despite the robbery being a significant evolution in criminal audacity, the law enforcement agencies have yet to disclose a description of the individuals considered to be the primary suspects.
