Vice President JD Vance praised the end of the 12-day war between Israel and Iran as a historic turning point for the region, crediting President Donald Trump with achieving a long-standing goal: a Middle East where Iran no longer threatens its neighbors with nuclear weapons.

Appearing on Fox News shortly after President Trump announced a full ceasefire agreement, Vance highlighted the administration’s tireless diplomatic and military efforts to bring the war to a close.

“This is a great thing,” Vance said. “For Israel—they’ve achieved a critical military victory. They helped us destroy the Iranian nuclear program and took out Iran’s missile infrastructure. For Iran, it’s an opportunity to choose peace after their failure to intimidate the region through terror proxies and a failed nuclear weapons campaign.”

Vance credited Trump directly, saying the president had been “working the phones constantly” and succeeded where others had failed by enforcing red lines and delivering results through strength.

“President Trump hit the reset button on the Middle East,” Vance said. “I think we’ll look back and see the 12 Day War as an important reset moment for the entire region.”

Trump formally declared the war over in a Truth Social post Monday, confirming that once final operations were complete, a 12-hour ceasefire would take effect. At the end of that window, “the War will be considered, ENDED!”

Trump congratulated both nations for having the “Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence” to bring the war to a close and reaffirmed his vision for a peaceful Middle East.

Over the past two weeks, Israeli forces carried out widespread strikes against Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure, operating with near-total air superiority over Tehran. In addition to crippling Iran’s nuclear program, Israel destroyed propaganda hubs like the regime’s state-run news agency and targeted strategic sites including the notorious Evin Prison, known for holding political dissidents.

Trump’s administration coordinated directly with Israeli forces while also carrying out strikes of its own. Bunker busters and Tomahawk missiles devastated Iran’s nuclear sites at Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan—achieving a goal that had eluded American presidents for decades.

With the war now concluded, the Trump administration is turning its focus to securing a long-term framework to prevent Iran from ever rebuilding its nuclear capabilities.
