JD Vance: Iranians ‘Not Very Good At War,’ Should ‘Give Peace A Chance’

Vice President JD Vance didn’t mince words in the wake of the latest U.S. strike on Iran, bluntly stating the Islamic regime was “not very good at war” and urging its leaders to take the peace deal President Trump is offering before it’s too late.

Speaking to NBC’s Kristen Welker, Vance defended the targeted strikes that crippled multiple Iranian nuclear facilities, describing them as necessary to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran — not to spark broader conflict.

“We don’t want war with Iran,” Vance said. “We want peace — but peace that doesn’t include a nuclear weapons program in the hands of the world’s leading state sponsor of terror. That’s exactly what the President accomplished last night.”

Vance laid out the administration’s position: the strikes were a direct response to Iran’s refusal to engage in good-faith negotiations, and the United States had shown patience. It was Tehran that gambled on delay and deception — and lost.

“For months we tried diplomacy,” Vance said. “But the Iranians were dragging out the process, trying to buy time to rebuild their nuclear arsenal. They were never serious. And that’s why we acted.”

He pushed back hard against critics claiming the U.S. ruined any chance of negotiations. “The Iranians killed diplomacy before it ever had a real shot. We just finally responded to their dishonesty.”

Vance closed with a cold dose of reality for the regime: “The Iranians are clearly not very good at war. Perhaps they should follow President Trump’s lead — and give peace a chance.”
