JD Vance Makes ‘Very Simple’ Prediction For Trump-Putin Meeting

Vice President JD Vance says President Donald Trump’s upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is the key to finally ending the war in Ukraine.

In a Sunday interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Vance told host Maria Bartiromo that the formula for peace is straightforward: start with the current line of contact between Russian and Ukrainian forces and negotiate a settlement both sides can accept. “It’s not going to make anybody super happy,” Vance admitted. “But I don’t think you can actually sit down and have this negotiation absent the leadership of Donald J. Trump.”

Trump announced he will meet Putin in Alaska on Friday, signaling that “some swapping of territories” could be part of the deal. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already rejected giving up land, but Vance said Trump’s role as mediator is essential.

“I think, fundamentally, the president of the United States has to be the one to kind of bring these two together,” Vance said, stressing that Trump’s presence is what has convinced Putin to reconsider his refusal to meet with Zelenskyy.

Vance credited Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff with helping break the deadlock and said the remaining hurdle is scheduling the three-way talks. “We’re at a point now where we’re trying to figure out when these three leaders could sit down and discuss an end to this conflict,” he said.
