Jen Psaki Snaps At Christians: “Enough With The Thoughts and Prayers” After Catholic School Shooting

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki lashed out at Christians in the wake of the tragic mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, where a trans-identifying shooter opened fire during morning Mass, killing two young children and injuring 17 others.

Rather than offering condolences or standing with the grieving Catholic community, Psaki used the moment to lecture Americans about prayer. In a heated post on X, she wrote, “Prayer is not freaking enough. Prayers do not end school shootings. Prayers do not make parents feel safe sending their kids to school. Prayer does not bring these kids back. Enough with the thoughts and prayers.”

Her comments sparked immediate backlash online, with critics slamming the former Biden aide for mocking the very thing the victims and their families were doing when the attack occurred — praying.

Democrats Join the Chorus Against Prayer

Psaki wasn’t alone. Democrat Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey delivered a press conference Wednesday in which he went even further, suggesting that prayers were meaningless because the children were already praying during the attack.

“Don’t just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now,” Frey said. “These kids were literally praying. It was the first week of school, they were in a church.”

Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota echoed the same sentiment, saying simply, “Thoughts and prayers just aren’t enough.”

Shooter Opened Fire On Children During Mass

Police identified the shooter as 23-year-old Robin Westman, a biological male who identified as transgender. Westman reportedly fired a rifle, shotgun, and pistol through the stained-glass windows of the church as students worshiped. Two children — ages 8 and 10 — were killed instantly. Fourteen more children were wounded, along with three adults.

Westman ultimately took his own life in the church parking lot, according to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara. At least seven victims remain in critical condition.

Authorities have not confirmed a motive, but investigators are reviewing disturbing social media content and a personal journal in which Westman expressed hatred for Christianity and regret over transitioning. Some of his firearms bore anti-religious and political graffiti, including “Kill Donald Trump” and “Where’s your God?”

FBI Investigating Attack As Hate Crime

FBI Director Kash Patel said Wednesday that the bureau is investigating the attack as a domestic terrorist act and a hate crime targeting Catholics. The shooting marks the second time in recent years that a trans-identifying shooter has carried out a massacre at a Christian school.

Despite these facts, many in the Democratic Party appear more focused on dismissing prayer than addressing the ideological motivations behind the attack. Psaki’s rant against Christians struck many as both tone-deaf and deliberately provocative.

A Moment of Grief—Hijacked

Rather than honoring the victims and their families, Psaki and other prominent Democrats chose to lecture grieving Americans about faith and gun control. Critics argue that the left’s response has revealed a growing hostility toward people of faith—especially Christians—who find comfort in prayer during times of tragedy.

The community surrounding Annunciation Catholic School has called for national prayer, unity, and healing. But instead, they’ve been met with scorn from political elites who seem determined to turn a moment of mourning into a political weapon.
