Jim Jordan Hails YouTube Reinstatement of Conservative Voices: ‘A Win For Free Expression’

Congressman Jim Jordan is declaring victory in the fight against Big Tech censorship after YouTube’s parent company, Alphabet, announced it will reinstate several conservative creators previously banned under Biden-era content policies.

“This is a win for the First Amendment, a win for free expression,” the Ohio Republican told The Daily Wire. “They had kicked some people off the YouTube platform altogether — you, your channel, you’re gone. They’ve agreed to reinstate those individuals, which I think is good.”

Alphabet confirmed in a letter Tuesday that it would reverse bans placed on creators for violating outdated COVID-19 and election-related content policies, admitting that those rules were applied during a period of political pressure from the Biden administration.

Creators Return, Fact-Checkers Gone

Notably, banned creators like Dan Bongino and Sebastian Gorka — both now part of President Trump’s administration — are expected to return to the platform.

Jordan also celebrated Alphabet’s move to ditch third-party fact-checkers, a system he said was biased and weaponized against conservatives. “Fact-checkers have typically been nothing more than left-wing enforcers,” he said. “Removing that layer of censorship is a positive step forward.”

Alphabet’s public statement pledged a renewed “commitment to free expression,” offering all creators banned under the previous regime a path back onto the platform.

European Censorship Looms Over U.S. Tech

Despite the move, Jordan warned that the fight isn’t over. He pointed to the European Union’s Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act, which he fears could export European-style speech controls into the U.S. via compliance demands on global tech platforms.

“These laws are already complicating how American companies operate,” Jordan warned, referencing recent arrests in Europe for online speech deemed offensive — including the case of Graham Linehan, a British comedian arrested for jokes about transgender ideology.

“I think it’s just a matter of time before that happens to an American,” Jordan said. “We’re particularly concerned about that relative to YouTube.”

GOP Continues Pushback Against Censorship

Republican lawmakers are continuing investigations into how federal agencies and Democratic officials allegedly pressured Big Tech to silence dissenting viewpoints on COVID, the 2020 election, and other hot-button issues. Jordan has spearheaded efforts from his perch on the House Judiciary Committee, targeting what he calls “the censorship-industrial complex.”

With YouTube backpedaling, Jordan says the pressure is working — but he’s not letting up.

“This isn’t just about one platform,” he said. “It’s about making sure no American ever has to fear being silenced for telling the truth.”
