Jim Jordan Says House May Soon Pass Bill Targeting Nationwide Injunctions
House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan says the House is preparing to vote on the “No Rogue Rulings Act,” a critical piece of legislation that would rein in activist federal judges who have increasingly used nationwide injunctions to block President Donald Trump’s second-term agenda.
The bill, introduced by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), would prohibit federal district judges from issuing injunctions that apply beyond the parties involved in a given case—effectively stopping unelected judges from shutting down national policy with the stroke of a pen.
Jordan: “We’re Going to End These Rogue Rulings”
“We’ve seen judges abuse their power time and again to block the will of the voters,” said Jordan. “This bill restores balance and puts an end to the Left’s favorite legal trick—using friendly courts to stall conservative reform nationwide.”
Jordan confirmed that House Speaker Mike Johnson is preparing to bring the bill to the floor for a vote within the coming days. Once passed, Republicans aim to push the measure through the Senate and onto President Trump’s desk for signature.
Why This Matters: One Judge, One Nation?
Federal judges have increasingly used nationwide injunctions to halt Trump’s executive actions—policies that were lawfully implemented and backed by the American people. These sweeping rulings allow a single lower court judge to impose their political preferences on the entire country, even when the case only affects a narrow set of plaintiffs.
During Trump’s first term, more than 60 nationwide injunctions were issued—far more than any previous administration. Now, with Trump back in the White House, left-wing legal groups are already back in court, shopping for sympathetic judges to derail his efforts on immigration, education, and government reform.
In just the first few months of Trump’s second term, 15 nationwide injunctions have already been issued—setting a pace that, if left unchecked, could paralyze the administration’s ability to govern.
Rep. Issa: “It’s Time to Take the Power Back”
Rep. Darrell Issa, the lead sponsor of the bill, put it plainly:
“We have a serious problem in our judiciary. These judges are not interpreting the law—they’re legislating from the bench to stop President Trump from doing what he was elected to do.”
He called the No Rogue Rulings Act a necessary step to restore constitutional order and prevent judicial tyranny.
The Bottom Line
With this legislation, Republicans are taking direct aim at the activist judicial class that has repeatedly tried to block President Trump’s America First policies. The No Rogue Rulings Act sends a powerful message: policy is made by elected officials—not unelected judges in black robes.
If passed, this bill could mark a major victory for the Trump administration—and a turning point in the long battle to restore judicial restraint in America.
