Kamala Harris Buys $8.15M Malibu Beach Home in Area She Once Claimed Was at Risk From Climate Change
Former Vice President Kamala Harris, long a vocal champion of climate change alarmism and coastal disaster predictions, has just made an eyebrow-raising real estate purchase: an $8.15 million ocean-view home in Malibu — just steps from the same eroding California coastline she once warned was under imminent threat.
According to multiple reports, Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, closed on the 4,000-square-foot Point Dume property earlier this month. The residence features four bedrooms, six bathrooms, and sits on roughly three-quarters of an acre near the exclusive Little Dume Beach enclave. One listing describes it as “perched in a prime coastal location” with “breathtaking ocean views.”
Point Dume is not only one of the most expensive zip codes in America, it’s also a stretch of coastline that Harris once claimed was endangered by rising sea levels. During her time in the Senate and as vice president, Harris championed a number of apocalyptic climate predictions — including projections showing large swaths of California’s coast, including Point Dume State Beach, would be swallowed by the ocean within decades. One of those models was officially discontinued under the Trump administration in June 2025.
In 2019, Harris tweeted, “Sea levels are rising. Climate change is real and we must act before it’s too late.” That same year, she sponsored the Living Shorelines Act to dump $50 million annually into so-called climate resilience efforts. As vice president, Harris led the Climate-Ready Coasts initiative, which funneled billions into shoreline protection. And in 2023, she stood onstage in Miami declaring, “The climate crisis represents a profound threat… We still have time to make a difference.”
Now, she’s parking her money in one of the very zones her administration called most vulnerable.
The purchase is laced with hypocrisy. The home reportedly includes amenities Harris and her administration once criticized — such as a gas stove, gas fireplace, and tankless water heater — all targets of energy efficiency crackdowns promoted by the Biden-Harris White House.
The Point Dume area has previously suffered serious wildfire damage, including during the 2018 Woolsey Fire and 2025 Palisades Fire. It’s also one of the highest-risk areas for coastal erosion according to a 2023 Interior Department report, which warned that up to 75 percent of California’s beaches could vanish by the end of the century.
Despite all of that, Harris clearly isn’t losing sleep over climate forecasts — not when it comes to oceanfront property. Her new neighborhood is home to stars like Sean Penn, Gerard Butler, and Julia Roberts. Exclusive, gated, and lined with private beach access, it’s a far cry from the grim, flood-prone wasteland Harris once suggested would soon define America’s coasts.
So while Harris may continue preaching about carbon footprints and climate urgency, her real estate decisions tell a different story — one with panoramic views, ocean breezes, and a gas stove ready to cook up her next contradiction.
