Majority Of Voters Back Trump’s Operation Epic Fury Against Iran
A majority of American voters support President Donald Trump and his military campaign against Iran, according to a new survey showing broad backing for Operation Epic Fury.
The poll, conducted by OnMessage and surveying 1,800 likely voters earlier this week, found that around 60% of respondents approve of the operation targeting the Iranian regime.
According to the results, 56% of voters support the United States targeting Iranian leadership, while 63% back strikes against Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile facilities. Nearly 70% of those surveyed agreed with the administration’s assessment that Iran represents a “threat to global peace and democracy.”
The survey also showed strong concern about Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Roughly 76% of respondents said that if Iran obtained a nuclear weapon it would pose a direct threat to the United States.
The results contrast with criticism from many Democratic lawmakers who have condemned Operation Epic Fury and argued that the administration should have sought congressional approval before launching military strikes. Only a handful of Democrats, including Sen. John Fetterman and Rep. Josh Gottheimer, have publicly supported the military action.
Since the operation began, senior administration officials including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine have provided frequent updates on the campaign, which U.S. officials say is aimed at dismantling Iran’s military and nuclear infrastructure.
Administration officials have argued the strikes were necessary because Iran posed what they described as an imminent threat to American troops and regional allies. Special envoy Steve Witkoff said earlier this week that Iranian negotiators had boasted about possessing enough enriched uranium to produce nearly a dozen nuclear weapons.
Trump said Tuesday that the strikes may have prevented a much larger conflict.
“If we didn’t do what we’re doing right now, you would’ve had a nuclear war and they would’ve taken out many countries,” the president told reporters.
While some Democrats and independents remain wary of another prolonged Middle East conflict, the poll found many still support limited military action if it achieves clear objectives quickly. Sixty-five percent of self-identified Democrats and 68% of independents agreed with the statement that they support military action to neutralize threats from Iran as long as the United States avoids becoming stuck in another “forever war.”
Trump has suggested Operation Epic Fury could last roughly four weeks, though he has acknowledged the timeline could change depending on battlefield developments. U.S. and Israeli forces have already eliminated dozens of senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, while destroying major portions of Iran’s air defenses and naval capabilities.
The president has also not ruled out additional steps if necessary, including potential ground operations. At the same time, he has encouraged the Iranian people to take control of their government once the regime’s power is broken.
“To the great proud people of Iran,” Trump said when announcing the operation, “the hour of your freedom is at hand.”
