Martin Sheen Unleashes Rant on Trump: “The Biggest Nothing in the World”
Hollywood actor Martin Sheen launched into a scathing diatribe against President Donald Trump during a live MSNBC taping Monday night, ridiculing the 47th president as “the biggest nothing in the world” in a performance more reminiscent of a bitter monologue than political critique.
Speaking on stage with anchor Nicolle Wallace for her podcast The Best People, the West Wing star aimed his remarks directly at Trump — theatrically and sarcastically.
“You gotta realize, sir, that you are the biggest nothing in the world,” Sheen declared to laughter from the liberal-leaning crowd and nods from Wallace. “Stop listening to all these people around you, these sycophants who are encouraging you to be your non-human self.”
He then shifted from ridicule to unsolicited self-help advice: “Get in touch with that humanity. Stop fussing with your hair, don’t worry about your tie, and stand up straight and speak clearly, not from your throat. Speak from your heart and start being human. That’s what you were made for — not golf.”
Sheen, 85, delivered his lines with the flair of a veteran actor—something that’s earned him acclaim in films like Apocalypse Now and Wall Street, but here was used to level broadsides at a sitting president. “So there you are, Mr. President,” he concluded, “with all due respect, sir.” The sarcasm dripped through.
The longtime liberal activist, who portrayed a fictional Democratic president on The West Wing, didn’t stop with Trump. He also turned his disdain toward Trump’s cabinet, painting the administration as joyless and egotistical.
“There’s no heroes in there, there’s no music, there’s no laughter, there’s no self-effacement, there’s no joy in that room,” Sheen said. “It smells of ego and fear and false worship.”
The White House did not respond to the attack, and neither did MSNBC — though Wallace appeared visibly pleased during the segment.
This isn’t Sheen’s first tirade against the president. In 2021, he labeled Trump a “bum,” a “hustler,” and “a bad man.” He has also proudly claimed to be arrested over 60 times for civil disobedience tied to left-wing protest movements. The actor endorsed Joe Biden in the last cycle before Biden exited the 2024 race, ultimately endorsing Kamala Harris instead.
Trump, who was in Egypt meeting with world leaders as part of the Middle East peace effort when the clip aired, has yet to respond to the Hollywood actor’s insults.
