Melania Threatens Hunter Biden With $1B Lawsuit: ‘False, Defamatory, Disparaging’
First Lady Melania Trump has formally threatened to sue Hunter Biden for $1 billion, accusing him of spreading “false, defamatory, and disparaging” claims tying her to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. The explosive legal warning comes after Biden repeated long-debunked rumors in a recent interview.
Trump’s litigation counsel Alejandro Brito sent a cease-and-desist letter demanding that Biden retract the comments he made during an August appearance on the YouTube program Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan. In the interview, Biden alleged that Epstein was the one who introduced Melania to Donald Trump, citing a piece by controversial writer Michael Wolff.
The letter notes that The Daily Beast, which originally published Wolff’s claims, has already retracted and deleted the article after receiving a similar demand from the first lady’s legal team. “Despite this, you have unjustifiably relied upon Mr. Wolff’s false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory statements about Mrs. Trump and maliciously elected to republish them,” Brito wrote.
Trump’s attorneys argue that Biden’s remarks have been republished by multiple outlets and widely circulated on social media, causing “overwhelming financial and reputational harm” to the first lady. They further warn that if Biden fails to issue a public retraction and apology, Melania Trump “will be left with no alternative but to enforce her legal and equitable rights… including by filing legal action for over $1 Billion Dollars in damages.”
The letter also instructs Biden to preserve all communications and evidence related to his claims and the interview, effectively setting the stage for a legal battle should he refuse to comply.
Biden has made two appearances on Channel 5 this summer, one in July and another in early August. The July episode ran for nearly three hours and has garnered over 3.6 million views, while the August segment — in which the offending comments were made — has already topped 1.2 million views.
The lawsuit threat underscores the Trump family’s aggressive legal strategy in pushing back against salacious or false allegations, especially those tied to Epstein, who has been used repeatedly by political opponents to smear the former president and his family. This move signals that Melania Trump is prepared to draw a hard line, holding Hunter Biden personally accountable for repeating discredited claims in a high-profile forum.
