The Memphis Police Department (MPD) recently publicized successive detention of three individuals involved in a violent event on Mud Island. This distressing occurrence was noted to unfold on Monday, the 2nd of June, within a residential precinct of Mud Island.
A day later from this incident, officers from MPD found an oscillating clue in the form of a red truck, suspected of being used during the criminal operation, discarded in a forested zone of Whitehaven. This apparent lead in the case intensified the investigative stride of the promising MPD team.
Subsequently, their systematic probing led them to the expeditious apprehension of two men. Christopher Skelton, a 29-year-old, and Justin Furnish, aged 42, were detained in relation to the case, their collusion cemented by the accumulation of incriminating evidence.
Upon their capture, they were charged with an array of crimes. The encompassing allegations consisted of auto theft with a vehicle estimated value lying within $2,500 to $10,000, perpetration of an attempted carjacking, attempted premeditated homicide and double accusations of firearm utilization amidst a perilous felony.
These sequential detentions took a significant leap when, on Tuesday, the 10th of June, officials confirmed the seizure of a third associate linked to the concerning crime chain. They declared the arrest of a 33-year-old man, known as Hunter Maness, affirming his association with the criminal event that unfolded recently.
Maness was subsequently charged with several offenses, magnifying the gravity of his alleged involvement. The charges incorporated property theft amounting to a sum between $2,500 and $10,000. Moreover, post-the attempted carjacking, murder and use of a firearm in liaison with a dangerous felony, he was regarded as an accessory.
During this catastrophic course of events, a man was critically injured in the incident. He fell prey to the attempted robbery and subsequent shooting incident that unfolded at the scene. His immediate need for medical intervention led to his prompt transportation to a medical center.
This victim was rushed to Regional One, a healthcare facility, where he was noted to be grappling with a critical condition. His state pressed urgency to the situation, deepening the seriousness of the criminal event that transpired.
