Mitt Romney’s Sister-in-Law Found Dead at 64 in Los Angeles Suburb

Carrie Elizabeth Romney, the sister-in-law of former Utah Senator and GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, was found dead Friday night in a suburb of Los Angeles. She was 64.

According to local authorities, Romney’s body was discovered near a shopping mall parking garage in Valencia, California, at approximately 8:30 p.m. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office confirmed the death but has not yet determined a cause or manner. Investigators are reportedly looking into whether she may have fallen or jumped from the multi-story structure nearby.

Details remain limited, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says the investigation is ongoing.

Romney, who served as a U.S. senator and ran unsuccessfully for president against Barack Obama in 2012, has not yet issued a public statement on the incident. The Romney family has not commented as of Monday morning.

Carrie Elizabeth Romney had largely stayed out of the political spotlight, but her connection to one of the most prominent names in American politics has drawn national attention to the tragedy.
