Nancy Pelosi Snaps at Reporter Over National Guard Question, Tells Her to ‘Shut Up’

Rep. Nancy Pelosi snapped at a Lindell-TV reporter Wednesday after being asked why she allegedly rejected National Guard assistance ahead of the January 6 Capitol riot.

While slowly descending the Capitol steps with the aid of a security agent, the 85-year-old former House Speaker was confronted by correspondent Alison Steinberg, who asked: “Why did you refuse the National Guard on January 6?”

Pelosi wheeled around, pointed her finger at Steinberg, and barked: “Shut up! I did not refuse the National Guard. The president didn’t send it. Why are you coming here with Republican talking points as if you are a serious journalist?”

Her outburst follows renewed scrutiny from a Republican-led committee investigating the 2021 riot. Steinberg’s question referenced longstanding allegations that Democrat leadership—specifically Pelosi—ignored security warnings and rejected preemptive reinforcements for political reasons.

In footage captured on January 6 by her daughter for an HBO documentary, Pelosi can be seen admitting failures. “We have totally failed. We have to take some responsibility for not holding the security accountable for what could have happened,” she said.

When one aide asked mid-riot whether the National Guard should be called in, Pelosi fired back: “Why weren’t the National Guard there to begin with?”

Though Democrats and legacy media have claimed she had no control over security, Pelosi herself acknowledged: “I take responsibility for not having them just prepare for more.”

A 2022 Republican report found that Democrat leaders had concerns over the “optics” of deploying the Guard after the George Floyd protests and feared backlash from the left.

Now, Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) is leading a new House Judiciary subcommittee to reexamine the Capitol breach.

“Republicans will continue to pursue the facts in an objective manner no matter where they lead,” Loudermilk said. “The American people deserve a complete and accurate account of the security failures that occurred on January 6.”

Pelosi’s office issued a statement blasting the ongoing inquiries, calling them “shameful” and “unpatriotic.” Her spokesman insisted, “The Speaker of the House is not in charge of the security of the Capitol Complex — on January 6 or any other day of the week.”

But her heated response to Steinberg’s direct question is already drawing headlines—and raising more questions. As Steinberg put it afterward, “The American people deserve answers, not insults.”
