A lawyer in the office of far-left New York Attorney General Letitia James is breaking from Democrat orthodoxy to speak out against the multi-billion-dollar “gender-affirming care” industry—and she’s doing so at a Trump administration-backed Federal Trade Commission (FTC) workshop this week.

Glenna Goldis, an assistant attorney general for James, is expected to testify Wednesday in her personal capacity, despite her employer’s aggressive legal defense of transgender medical procedures—including on minors. Goldis, a self-described “lefty lesbian lawyer,” is sounding the alarm on what she sees as predatory practices targeting vulnerable children under the guise of progressive medicine.

“You can see in the public record that Letitia James’ view is not my view,” Goldis said in an interview. “There’s a taboo around criticizing this industry, and that taboo is doing all the work for the gender doctors. I want to smash that taboo.”

Letitia James has repeatedly used her office to sue or threaten Republican leaders who attempt to ban or restrict transgender surgeries and hormone interventions for children. James has called such policies “cruel” and “dangerous,” falsely claiming that irreversible procedures on minors are “medically necessary.”

Goldis strongly disagrees. She says many in the LGBT community—especially gays and lesbians—feel silenced when they question transgender ideology.

“I think it’s especially important for gay people to speak out,” she said. “Trans activists have leaned on the idea that they’re just an extension of the gay rights movement. That’s not true—and if you say otherwise, they try to destroy you.”

Goldis is just one of many voices participating in the FTC workshop, which may signal broader action from the Trump administration against the industry. Internal memos suggest the FTC is investigating the transgender medical field for “unfair and deceptive” practices, including misleading parents and children about the safety and reversibility of hormone treatments and surgeries.

Goldis’s testimony joins a growing bipartisan chorus of whistleblowers and detransitioners who are speaking out, including medical insiders like Jamie Reed, Dr. Eithan Haim, and Vanessa Sivadge, and young women like Chloe Cole and Prisha Mosley, who underwent life-altering procedures as teens.

Goldis, who is active in the LGB Courage Coalition, said the pushback against the industry isn’t about politics—it’s about truth and protecting children. “We don’t have money, we don’t have big healthcare, we don’t have the backing of global law firms. We’re just regular people, speaking out in our personal capacities.”

Her message is clear: the tide is turning, and the movement to expose the dangers of radical gender ideology is not just conservative—it’s wide, diverse, and growing louder.
