Reckless Biden-Esque Policies Continue: Costly Pro-Ukrainian Stance

Despite the ceaseless torrents of criticism targeted at its predecessor, the current government’s course of action towards Ukraine eerily mirrors the flawed policies implemented under the Joe Biden administration. Complicit in empowering Ukrainians with lethal armament, the administration also dangles the possibility of imposing heavier sanctions on Russian President, Vladimir Putin, contingent upon his acceptance of a peace deal. Detractors have levied accusations against the government for its discernible recklessness and delayed responses, sighting a misguided pursuit of the proper solution.

An ex-Biden associate has commented on the perceived shift towards a more pro-Ukrainian stance as being notably costly. The misguided commitment involves offering weapons to NATO to stock Ukraine and planning to impose a considerably hefty duty charge further of 100% on all Russian goods if an agreement isn’t reached within 50 days. A methodology in stark contrast to Biden’s, where the regime carefully abstained from providing military aid directly to Ukraine.

Instead, the Trump administration has arranged for NATO allies to obtain weapons from the U.S and then systemically channel them into the increasingly volatile situation. It’s a win-win situation for the administration as the allies have also complied with Trump’s independent stipulation that they should allocate a minimum of 5% of their annual GDP on defense within the next decade.

While rumors of rampant black-market weapon sales in Ukraine have gone around, concrete substantial evidence has yet to surface. In the midst of a challenging situation, Trump has maintained direct discourse with Putin. However, the tone of the conversation contradicts the aggressive action, as Trump described these talks as ‘amicable’.

Unfortunately, these talks seem to have manufactured little to no tangible impacts, as night is still alighted by the horrifying sight of missiles thundering away. The Trump administration holds on to the illusion of their ‘everlasting peace’ objective, trying to coerce both the player into negotiations.

However, the often radical suggestions coming from the administration were categorically rejected as ‘too extreme’ by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Consequently, Trump appeared to shift his dissatisfaction towards Moscow, making the situation look appalling and draining energy.

Trump’s false bravado about reconciling the nuclear-armed nations, India and Pakistan, raised hopes of him receiving a Nobel Peace Prize nomination. Nevertheless, the dream of achieving peace in Europe is still a hard-fought battle.

Voicing dissatisfaction, Trump was heard saying, ‘I anticipated reaching an agreement with President Putin two months ago’. The arms will continue to be supplied, as they were previously, with the cost burden knowingly shifted from Americans to Europeans.

There’s no concrete number but it speculated that billions of U.S. aid have already been funneled to Ukraine. The looming threat of extra sanctions could bring about a significant reduction in the trade between the U.S. and Russia. This power play seems to be the go-to strategy after successful strikes on Iran and the subsequent peace agreement- a clear overreaching act.

A former senior official, still having close connections to the administration, countered the criticism that Trump avoids ideological classification. This individual paints Trump as a pragmatist, best described by the principle of ‘strong opinions loosely held’.

However, the most passionate non-interventionists in the pack aren’t sold on the idea that the United States should get involved. As a former Trump advisor cautiously warned, ‘We are about to arm individuals we have virtually no control over’.

The resistance on this issue from non-interventionists seems to be steadfast. They continue to voice concerns over supplying arms to individuals outside of U.S. supervision. Trump, however, remains undeterred and plans to initiate weapon sales to NATO immediately.

These arms are subsequently expected to land squarely in the hands of Ukrainians on the battlefield in no time. Once again showcasing the irresponsible decisions that have come to define this administration’s notorious handling of delicate international issues.
