Secretary of War Pete Hegseth To Host Top Generals at Virginia Summit as Legacy Media Panic Sets In

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth will convene the nation’s top military brass next week for a high-level summit in Virginia, The Daily Wire has learned — but not before the corporate press tried to spin it into a panic.

The Washington Post lit the fuse with a breathless report suggesting that “hundreds” of generals and admirals were being summoned without clear explanation, calling it “rare” and “alarming” in light of recent Pentagon leadership changes under President Donald Trump. The report also accused Hegseth of making “overly political moves” and “erasing the Defense Department’s status as a nonpartisan institution.”

But according to the Pentagon, this is nothing out of the ordinary.

Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed the meeting to The Daily Wire, stating plainly: “The Secretary of War will be addressing his senior military leaders early next week.”

President Trump weighed in Thursday when asked about the report during an Oval Office press gaggle. He dismissed the framing entirely.

“Why is that such a big deal?” Trump asked. “The fact that we are getting along with the generals and admirals? Remember, I’m the president of peace. It’s good to get along. You act like this is a bad thing.”

Vice President JD Vance echoed the president’s remarks, slamming the media for trying to gin up controversy where there isn’t any.

“It’s not particularly unusual that generals who report to the Secretary of War — and then to the President of the United States — are coming to speak with the Secretary of War,” Vance said. “It’s actually not unusual at all, and I think it’s odd that you guys have made it into such a big story.”

“Is it a big story?” Trump added with a grin, drawing laughs from Vance and other officials in the room. “Isn’t it a good story?”

While left-leaning outlets continue to feign concern about “nonpartisanship” in the Pentagon, Hegseth’s supporters argue that the Secretary is doing exactly what the job demands: restoring discipline, focus, and a mission-first attitude at the highest levels of military command.
