This hostile posture comes nearly 25 years after the U.S invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan. The American elite appears to be plotting yet another illicit war. This time, their target is a populous nation, more than triple the size of Iraq.
This war seems to serve multiple objectives of not only the controversial figure Donald Trump but also the influential financial elites who yield power through the Republican and Democratic parties. They harbor ambitions to:
Establish a neo-colonial grip over Iran, nearly half a century after the Iranian populace overthrew the US-supported, monarchical-dictatorship of Shah.
Secure outright dominion of the US over the crucial oil-exporting region and pivotal global sea trade routes. This move also serves as groundwork for an impending confrontation with major geopolitical rivals, China and Russia.
Avert an economic catastrophe and impending financial breakdown by tapping into the resources of the targeted nation.
Distract the public from a growing internal crisis and increasing social dissent.
This risky venture is expected to trigger devastating consequences for Iran, its regional neighbors, and the world at large. Carrying out this war, filled with massive armed maneuvering, deceit, and treason, might lead to outcomes as devastating – if not shockingly worse – than the elective wars that the US embarked on in Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, and Korea.
The impending war against Iran, led by the US-Israel, is unmistakably imperialistic in nature. It brings one of history’s most oppressed countries under siege. The key determinant in its political narrative has been a century-old quest for liberation, first from British and later from American imperialism.
The same key players, institutions, and media platforms currently spearheading Israel’s attacks on Iran were also volatile supporters of the war against Russia. A war instigated by imperial powers with the pretext of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
For the past three and half decades, US imperialism has endeavored to eliminate repercussions of the anti-colonial and social transformations of the 20th century. This attempt aims to curb the gradual dilution of US global supremacy, predominately by escalating militaristic advancements and hostility.
In the face of the external onslaught, Iran’s resistance is fundamentally legitimate and unconditionally politically progressive. Those who contend that the fundamental nature of Iran’s government undermines Iran’s self-defensive rights, are subtly providing a ‘leftist’ justification for the imperialist war.
This imminent conflict, akin to the World Wars, is fundamentally driven by inherent shortcomings of capitalism – the dichotomy between an intricately interconnected global economy and an outmoded nation-state system, and the tension between privatized means of production and the societal nature of today’s economic configuration.
