Stacey Abrams Says Trump Will Turn United States Into An Autocracy

Stacey Abrams, the twice-failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate and longtime election denier, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to peddle the claim that President Donald Trump is on the verge of turning the United States into a dictatorship.

Speaking with guest host Anthony Anderson, Abrams rattled off what she called the “10 steps to autocracy,” drawing comparisons between Trump and regimes in countries like Russia, Brazil, India, and the Philippines. Her list began with the warning, “Start with winning an election — usually the last one you’ll get to have for real.”

Abrams accused Trump of expanding executive power, weakening Congress and the judiciary, and placing loyalists in federal agencies like the FBI — all while conveniently ignoring the actual abuses of power under President Joe Biden, including the weaponization of the Justice Department against Trump himself.

She implied that the Supreme Court’s recent ruling limiting activist judges from issuing nationwide injunctions somehow plays into Trump’s supposed authoritarianism — without acknowledging that the same Court also ruled Biden’s student loan bailout illegal, which he then brazenly ignored and restructured anyway.

Abrams then claimed Trump had “gutted the civil service” and blamed minorities through his opposition to DEI, calling it a classic move of autocrats looking for scapegoats. But it was Biden’s DOJ and local Democrat prosecutors who orchestrated four separate indictments against Trump — widely seen by millions of Americans as politically motivated efforts to derail his 2024 campaign.

The Democrat activist also smeared Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard and Marines to Los Angeles during anti-ICE riots as a step toward martial law. In reality, those deployments were ordered to protect federal property and agents after violent leftist demonstrators — many aligned with groups like MS-13 — clashed with law enforcement and torched parts of the city.

Abrams concluded her alarmist list by claiming Trump would cancel future elections, saying people would be “afraid, poor, broken, or complicit.” This, from the same figure who still refuses to concede her 2018 election loss, famously declaring, “I didn’t lose. I got the votes.”

Her nonprofit network, already under IRS investigation for allegedly violating federal law by campaigning on her behalf, has repeatedly pushed the same “voter suppression” narrative she used to raise millions and justify her refusal to accept reality.

While Abrams lectures Americans about the threat of dictatorship, it’s her own party that has weaponized law enforcement, censored political speech, targeted faith-based groups, and criminalized opposition. Her performance wasn’t a warning — it was projection.
