Stephen Miller Crushes CNN’s Kasie Hunt, Schools Her on Presidential Authority Over Deportations
During a heated exchange on CNN, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller dismantled anchor Kasie Hunt’s attempt to challenge President Donald Trump’s authority to deport suspected Venezuelan gang members. Hunt, echoing left-wing narratives, tried to argue that a federal judge’s ruling should have stopped the deportations, but Miller swiftly corrected her, exposing the media’s misunderstanding—or deliberate misrepresentation—of executive power.
The controversy stemmed from U.S. District Judge James Boasberg’s last-minute attempt to block the Trump administration from deporting members of the Tren de Aragua gang to El Salvador. The judge issued an order demanding the flights be turned around, but by that point, the deportation flights were already over international waters, making his ruling legally irrelevant. By Monday, Judge Boasberg escalated the situation by demanding a sworn declaration from the Department of Justice explaining the deportations.
Miller, who has been a strong advocate for America First immigration policies, called the judge’s ruling “patently unlawful” and “an outrageous assault on the Constitution, on the sovereignty of the nation, and on democracy itself.”
When Hunt attempted to press Miller on whether the Trump administration would defy judicial orders, he didn’t hold back. “The President of the United States has full constitutional authority to conduct national security operations, including the removal of dangerous foreign criminals,” Miller explained. He cited the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, which grants the President power to repel threats without interference from activist judges.
Hunt then asked if Venezuela was actively invading the U.S., seemingly hoping to trap Miller into conceding a point. Instead, Miller expertly laid out the facts: “The Tren de Aragua gang is an enemy force. It entered the U.S. under the direction of the Venezuelan government. That meets the legal standard. The President, not unelected judges, determines threats to national security.”
Miller’s decisive response left Hunt scrambling, as he made it clear that immigration enforcement and national defense fall under the direct purview of the Commander-in-Chief, not partisan district judges attempting to legislate from the bench.
This exchange highlights the Trump administration’s unwavering commitment to enforcing immigration laws, deporting criminal aliens, and ensuring the safety of the American people—regardless of how the activist media or left-wing courts try to stand in the way.
