Taipei Named Unofficial Global ‘Dumpling Capital’ on International Dumpling Day
Greetings on this lovely Friday, the 26th of September, 2025. Here’s an interesting fact: it happens to be International Dumpling Day today. A particular spot showcased in a video clip from Taipei earned the unofficial title of ‘greatest dumpling house on the globe.’ Indeed, Taipei is often hailed as the hub of dumpling gastronomy across the planet.
There was this one time when I had an opportunity to try out dim sum in a well-renowned restaurant in Chicago with a Taipei native as my company. The dumplings were delightful, to say the least, but I was informed they paled in comparison to those from Taipei! It’s interesting to note that we also celebrate National Bakery Day, Native American Day, and German Butterbrot Day today. There happen to be numerous other commemorations as well, including Better Breakfast Day, Key Lime Pie Day, and even Lumberjack Day!
This day in history bears witness to significant happenings, births, and unfortunate departures of individuals. To delve deeper into the significance of this date, the Wikipedia page for September 26 might serve as a useful resource. The day preceding this also saw a development that stirred the attention of the country: the indictment of James Comey, the erstwhile director of the FBI.
During his tenure as the FBI director, the focus of the bureau was on investigating connections of Trump’s campaign with Russia in the preceding presidential election in 2016. Comey eventually faced dismissal from his position in 2017 by Trump himself.
In the aftermath of Comey’s dismissal, he unveiled a series of memos. These documents reflected private discussions between Trump and Comey that suggested Trump’s inclination to have certain investigations dropped. This scenario forms the fabric on which Comey’s indictment the previous day was embroidered.
The recent indictment of James B. Comey by a federal grand jury bears immense significance. It marks a vital stride from the Trump administration towards pursuing legal action against a former official noted as an adversary. The grand jury, stationed in Alexandria, Virginia, charged Comey with two offenses: falsification in testament, and obstruction of a congressional proceeding.
A pivotal point of this predicament seems to pivot around one apprehension: did Comey, perhaps, greenlight the engagement of an individual as an ‘undisclosed news source’ for the FBI?
President Trump has reportedly declared that any venture that Israel might undertake to annex the West Bank, will be met with firm resistance. Trump has indicated that he would halt the U.S. sales of armament to Israel if Netanyahu proceeds with the proposed plans of expanding settlements.
Moreover, the White House has drafted a blueprint for post-conflict resolution. This proposal includes the appointment of the former U.K. Prime Minister, Tony Blair, as a temporary administrator of Gaza. Furthermore, it suggests that an Arab-led security ensemble could contribute to keeping peace in the region.
Between 2000 and the present, there have been between fifty and sixty athletes who, despite having undergone male puberty, have emerged as finalists in the female spectrum of global and continental track and field championships. As per an official from World Athletics, SRY screening has been introduced. This genetic test, employing a simple cheek swab, can discern biological gender.
The sporting world has seen a prevalence of high-profile cases involving athletes with Differences of Sex Development (DSD). Among these is the prominent Caster Semenya from South Africa. Semenya bagged the gold in women’s 800m in the Olympic Games in both, 2012 and 2016.
Generating notable media buzz just four years past, Namibian athlete, Christine Mboma, grabbed silver in women’s 200m at the Tokyo 2020 Games. However, none of these athletes, including Semenya and Mboma, have participated at the elite competitions following the stipulation by World Athletics that mandates DSD individuals to contain their testosterone levels.
