Anis Ayani, a Moroccan-based businessman who owns a local gas station, was recently handed the remnants of a seccade – a prayer rug of great significance and immense emotional value, from the burnt remains of his gas station. The catastrophe was a direct fallout of the violent rioting that was triggered by George Floyd’s death on Memorial Day, in the Minnesota region of Minneapolis, dated June 3, 2020. Fast-forward five years, Ayani’s experience amplifies the deep-seated issue that continues to simmer beneath the surface of the political sphere – the growing tendency of the Left to view violence as a justifiable means of protest, backed by billionaire George Soros’ funded groups that advocate lenient views on crime.
The unfortunate demise of George Floyd didn’t just unsettle the social fabric but led to several unfortunate events, including fatalities and significant instances of violent aggression. The worst affected were minority-dominated localities and commercial establishments. Particularly, the Minneapolis–Saint Paul riots turned out to be a devastating aftermath where the community witnessed the killings of two innocent people, arrests of 604 individuals, and a loss of property as high as $2 billion. The passage of half a decade could do little to heal the burning issues, with visible cues suggesting another turbulent ‘Summer of Love’ on the horizon.
A case in point that stirred the geopolitical landscape was the arrest of Elias Rodriguez. Suspected of allegedly killing two employees of the Israeli Embassy in the capital city of Washington, D.C., on May 21, his defense emerged from quarters least expected – a socialist organization, closely associated with House “squad” members, and significant support from the treasurer of Black Voters Matter Action PAC. This super PAC has a significant Democratic leaning and is bolstered by substantial funding from billionaire George Soros.
In another shocking incident, a 33-year-old man allegedly inflicting damage amounting to $21,000 on six Tesla vehicles escaped legal charges in Minneapolis. The lack of action against such significant property destruction is regretful yet unsurprising. Earlier, the same authority had levied felony charges on a 19-year-old woman, devoid of any criminal charges, for keying the car of a fellow employee, causing minor damage of $7,000. The discrimination in administering justice casts a gloomy shadow over the fairness of law enforcement, suggesting leniency for crimes underpinned with political motivations.
Over successive electoral cycles, a significant financial push has been observed in favor of public prosecutor candidates. The vested interest was to tune law and order under the garb of ‘social justice,’ thereby offering softer stances on crime. In 2016, this manoeuvre was christened as the ‘noiseless transformation of the U.S. justice system.’ The masked intent of this shift hurts vulnerable groups, including racial minorities. Contrarily to the original design, this revision has begun to backfire, further exposing susceptible individuals to violent crimes.
One grave incident that amplifies this reality was the arrest of Luigi Mangione. Accused of allegedly assassinating UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, Mangione’s brutal act of violence in December of an undisclosed year took place in Manhattan. Astonishingly, Mangione is being adorned with saintly virtues by some factions within the Left, adding to the desensitization of our society towards violence.
In similar instances celebrating violent insinuations, former FBI Director James Comey posted an image of seashells on a beach that formed the numbers ‘8647.’ In slang terms, ’86’ indicates the act of removal or destruction, while ’47’ is often used to refer to President Trump, being the 47th president. Comey removed the post swiftly, due to violent associations, following with a statement asserting that violence in any form was never intended by his initial post. However, his opposition to violence has been consistently articulated in public interviews.
Five years since the inflammatory incident involving Floyd, the Left’s propensity for violence continues to pose a significant concern. Our democracy remains threatened, and it’s high time for a better path forward. The nation and the people deserve better.
