In an initiative to fortify local safety measures and solidify community-based defense structures, the Tiger Division of the Army is in process of training Village Defence Guards (VDGs). A centurion group of VDGs participate in these sessions, which are held at the Sunjuwan police firing range. The program is designed with the intention of improving the operational skills of VDG participants and fortifying their alliance with local law enforcement agencies.
The training curriculum for the VDG personnel includes instruction on shooting, fundamentals of weapon handling, tactical operations, and security norms, all of which is provided under the watchful eye of seasoned Army instructors. The objective of this practice is to enable community volunteers to serve as a robust adjunct to regular security personnel, specifically in sensitive regions. They are also prepared to react promptly and effectively during emergencies.
The efforts taken by the division not only aim to intensify local safety but also to encourage the local community to feel secure and self-dependent through organized capacity enhancement plans. On the international front, India has sternly opposed any potential funding assistance which Asian Development Bank (ADB) might offer to Pakistan, citing grave concerns about the possible misappropriation of these developmental funds for military objectives, along with doubts about Islamabad’s dedication to implementing significant fiscal reforms.
Coinciding with the visit of an all-party Indian delegation to Washington, DC (part of the international diplomacy initiative, Operation Sindoor), another delegation from Pakistan was in New York, advocating its interests. A proposal for dialogues and sharing intelligence between the two neighboring countries was presented. The emphasis was on the essential need for transparent communication in the current geopolitical scenario.
In relation to these developments, Congress MP Manish Tewari expressed that for the first time, the wrongdoings of Pakistan had been narrated so diligently and comprehensively. Furthermore, Anurag Thakur, a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), echoed India’s dedication to maintaining peace, and asserted that any attempt to compromise national security would be countered with a robust and decisive response.
Sanjay Singh, an MP from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has penned a letter to the Prime Minister, strongly advocating for an urgent special session of Parliament. His intention behind calling this special session is to update the country on Operation Sindoor and brief the public about the recent ceasefire decision.
A strong message was echoed as the all-party parliamentary group from India concluded their visit to the UK: the international community needs to hold Pakistan answerable for any finances channeled into terrorism under the pretext of foreign aid. BJP spokesperson Rekha Sharma indicated the party’s international campaign, titled ‘Operation Sindoor’, received positive acceptance in four nations. They refuted Pakistan’s ‘misconceptions’ and stressed India’s emphasis on development and peace.
The all-party delegation returned to Delhi on Tuesday after completing a tour of various nations, with the objective of garnering global support in the face of cross-border terrorism. This visit aimed to raise awareness about the international issue of terrorism and propel cohesive global action against it.
BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, who led the multi-party delegation to the United Kingdom, voiced the necessity for global unity against acts of terrorism and held Pakistan accountable for its conduct. He underscored collective involvement in this international issue, highlighting the often overlooked issue of Pakistan’s habitual borrowing from the International Monetary Fund.
In the broader context of things, far reaching implications of these concerted initiatives by the varying levels of Indian governance, from community to national level, are sure to strategically influence not just domestic security operations but also the global discourse around terrorism and state responsibilities.
