Trump Administration Launches ‘Freedom Moves You’ Campaign Ahead Of America 250

The Trump administration has launched a nationwide campaign aimed at building excitement ahead of America’s 250th anniversary, placing patriotic themed graphics in major transportation hubs across the country.

The Department of Transportation unveiled the initiative, titled “Freedom Moves You,” during an event Friday at Washington’s Union Station. The campaign will feature civics focused graphics displayed in airports, train stations, and other high traffic locations nationwide.

Officials say the materials are designed to spark conversations about American history and the founding principles of the country as the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday in 2026.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the anniversary presents a rare opportunity to unite Americans around the ideals that shaped the nation.

“Now more than ever, our nation needs to unite around the shared principles our founding fathers enshrined in 1776,” Duffy said. “America’s 250th birthday is a once in a lifetime opportunity to bring people together, cherish our national heritage, and inspire the next generation of patriots.”

The campaign will feature a series of graphics donated by the Heritage Foundation that promote American history and patriotic themes. According to the Department of Transportation, the materials will appear in transportation hubs including major airports such as New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Some of the slogans included in the campaign reference iconic moments and symbols from American history. One graphic reads “It’s Morning Again in America. Again,” while another encourages historical tourism with the message “For Your Next Family Vacation, Remember The Alamo.”

Monica Crowley, Chief of Protocol of the United States, said the transportation focused campaign was chosen because it will reach Americans traveling throughout the country.

“This campaign is probably the biggest that will connect all Americans, because we are all in constant movement,” Crowley said during the launch event. “Every American will have eyes on this campaign in some form or another.”

In addition to the transportation graphics, the Department of Transportation is supporting several related initiatives tied to the anniversary celebration.

These include commemorative passports that will be distributed through congressional offices and a tourism campaign known as “The Great American Road Trip,” which will highlight historic destinations and landmarks throughout the country.

The tourism initiative is expected to be promoted in partnership with several corporate sponsors.

Planning for the 250th anniversary has also drawn criticism from some Democrats in Congress.

Representative Maxine Dexter of Oregon accused the Freedom250 nonprofit, which is affiliated with the National Parks Foundation, of misusing taxpayer funds during a House Natural Resources Subcommittee hearing.

“Today I exposed Freedom 250 for what it really is, a scam,” Dexter wrote on social media in February.

Organizations involved in the planning have pushed back on those claims and say the celebration is intended to highlight American history and civic pride as the country approaches the historic milestone.
