The Trump administration pointedly criticizes South Africa’s affirmative action laws, suggesting they may foster anti-white sentiments. Underlying fears of the Afrikaners being wrongly targeted for their rural lands under new expropriation laws add to the equation.
While no direct expropriation of land has occurred, these laws have stirred widespread worries, particularly among Afrikaners residing in rural areas. Despite the ordeal they have been subject to, the Afrikaners find a ray of hope in the Trump administration’s refugee program. And while the adversity they have faced cannot be completely erased, the United States under the presidency of Trump opens a window to a life that promises security, stability, and the opportunity for prosperity.
