President Donald Trump is calling on Senate Republicans to cancel their vacations and get to work confirming his nominees, urging Majority Leader John Thune to suspend the Senate’s long weekends and the upcoming August recess.

“Hopefully the very talented John Thune, fresh off our many victories over the past two weeks and, indeed, 6 months, will cancel August recess (and long weekends!), in order to get my incredible nominees confirmed. We need them badly!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social Saturday morning.

The demand comes as Trump’s second-term administration continues ramping up its efforts to dismantle the bureaucratic holdovers from the Obama-Biden years and install loyal, America First personnel across the federal government.

Trump’s statement followed the explosive release of declassified intelligence by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, which revealed that the Obama administration had suppressed key findings showing Russia did not impact the 2016 election through cyberattacks. According to Gabbard, intelligence officials originally assessed that there was no credible attempt to alter vote totals or outcomes, but the report was pulled before reaching then-President Obama.

“This key intelligence assessment was never published,” Gabbard wrote. “They didn’t want to accept the will of the American people in electing Donald Trump in 2016 — and cooked up a treasonous conspiracy to overturn it.”

The revelations have only strengthened Trump’s case for cleaning out what he calls the “deep state” and installing trusted officials who will prioritize truth, transparency, and the will of the American people.

Trump’s push for urgency in the Senate reflects growing frustration among conservatives who say Democrat obstruction and Senate delays are bogging down the president’s reform agenda. The GOP-led Senate, they argue, must act with speed and discipline to confirm Trump’s judicial nominees, agency heads, and law enforcement officials to execute the administration’s vision heading into 2026 and beyond.

If Thune agrees to Trump’s request, it would mark a significant show of unity and momentum for the Republican-led Congress, especially as Democrats continue to deflect and downplay the recent intelligence bombshells.
