Trump Goes Nuclear on Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie, Pledges to Back Primary Challengers
President Donald Trump publicly severed ties with Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) Friday night, declaring he will support primary challengers against the two Republicans he once endorsed.
Trump, posting to Truth Social, said Greene turned on him after he advised her against running for higher office and began distancing himself from her. He said she became hostile after receiving internal polling showing she had no chance of winning a Senate or gubernatorial race in Georgia unless he endorsed her—an endorsement he said she would not be receiving.
“It seemed to all begin when I sent her a poll stating that she should not run for Senator or Governor, she was at 12%, and didn’t have a chance,” Trump wrote. “She has told many people that she is upset that I don’t return her phone calls anymore … but I can’t take a ranting lunatic’s call every day.”
Trump blasted Greene for what he characterized as drifting to the left, calling out her appearance on The View where she criticized the president’s foreign policy and questioned his stance on transparency around the Jeffrey Epstein files.
“She has gone Far Left, even doing The View, with their low IQ Republican-hating anchors,” Trump wrote. He added that “wonderful, conservative people” are already preparing to primary Greene in her Georgia district and promised his “complete and unyielding support” to the right challenger.
Greene, once one of Trump’s most vocal supporters, has become increasingly critical of the president in recent weeks. She has accused him of adopting an “America Last” approach, especially for his meetings with foreign leaders, and suggested that he’s been stonewalling the public release of Epstein-related documents.
“It’s astonishing really how hard he’s fighting to stop the Epstein files from coming out,” Greene said on X. “Of course he’s coming after me hard to make an example to scare all the other Republicans before next week’s vote to release the Epstein files.”
In a blistering follow-up, she added, “I don’t worship or serve Donald Trump. I worship God, Jesus is my savior, and I serve my district GA14 and the American people.”
Trump also unloaded on Massie, mocking the Kentucky congressman’s recent marriage and labeling him a loser. “Did Thomas Massie, sometimes referred to as Rand Paul Jr., get married already??? Boy, that was quick!” Trump wrote.
Massie’s first wife passed away in June 2024 after 35 years of marriage. He remarried 16 months later to Carolyn Grace Moffa, a former Senate staffer. Trump ridiculed the timing and claimed, “His wife will soon find out that she’s stuck with a LOSER!”
Trump’s falling-out with Massie is not new. Despite endorsing him in 2022 and calling him a “Conservative Warrior,” Trump has since soured on the Kentucky congressman. He pledged in May that he would back a primary challenger and “lead the charge” to oust him.
The twin rebukes mark a sharp escalation in Trump’s willingness to target dissent within his own party as he consolidates power ahead of 2026. The once-close allies are now firmly in the crosshairs of a political machine they once championed.
