Trump Predicts FBI Georgia Raid Will Expose ‘Interesting Things,’ Calls To ‘Nationalize The Voting’
President Donald Trump is calling for a national overhaul of election oversight, suggesting in a Monday interview that Republicans “ought to nationalize the voting” to secure future elections. The remarks came during a conversation with conservative commentator Dan Bongino, where Trump also predicted explosive revelations from a recent FBI raid of a Fulton County, Georgia, election office.
“The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting,” Trump said, pointing to alleged corruption in multiple states. “We have states that are so crooked and they’re counting votes. We have states that I won that show I didn’t win.” Trump claimed that Republicans should take over the voting process in at least 15 jurisdictions and warned that the status quo puts future elections at risk.
Trump referenced last week’s FBI raid in Georgia, where federal agents reportedly seized 700 boxes of election materials from a Fulton County facility. The raid is believed to be tied to a federal investigation into irregularities in the 2020 election, a contest Trump insists was stolen. “You’re going to see something in Georgia where they were able to get the ballots with the court order. You will see some interesting things come out,” Trump said.
Fulton County officials have challenged the legality of the search and announced plans to sue the federal government to retrieve the seized materials. The dispute has reignited debate over federal election oversight and transparency in Democratic-controlled jurisdictions.
White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson responded to questions about the interview by saying Trump is pushing for “uniform standards” across states to restore voter confidence. “President Trump cares deeply about the safety and security of our elections – that’s why he’s urged Congress to pass the SAVE Act,” Jackson told The Daily Wire. The SAVE Act would require proof of citizenship and photo ID for all voters, ban no-excuse mail-in voting, and prohibit ballot harvesting.
Though the SAVE Act passed the House last year, it has stalled in the Senate despite Republican control, amid Democrat-led efforts to block voter ID mandates and other safeguards. States like California, New York, and Illinois still do not require photo ID to vote.
Trump also used the interview to hammer the Biden administration’s immigration policies, suggesting that noncitizens are being allowed to vote illegally. “It’s crazy how you can get these [illegal immigrants] to vote,” Trump said. “And if we don’t get them out, Republicans will never win another election.”
The president claimed, once again, that he won the 2020 election by a landslide, including the popular vote and all swing states. He reiterated his belief that “these people were brought to our country to vote,” and warned that without mass deportations, “you’re never going to have that again.”
Trump took special aim at Minnesota, a state he alleges he carried in each of the last three elections. “They’re crooked officials,” Trump said of the state’s leadership. “I feel that I won Minnesota. I think I won it all three times … and I didn’t get credit for it.”
The remarks come as Trump ramps up pressure on congressional Republicans to address election integrity, and as FBI activity in Georgia fuels renewed scrutiny of Democrat-run election offices.
