President Donald Trump kicked off his Independence Day rally in Iowa by celebrating the passage of his flagship legislative package, the “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” calling it the greatest birthday present America could receive.
“Just hours ago, Congress passed the One Big, Beautiful Bill to Make America Great Again,” Trump told a packed crowd. “In 2024, the people gave us a mandate: cut taxes, raise wages, stop the invasion, deport illegal aliens, and eliminate fraud and waste—and that’s exactly what this bill delivers.”

The House narrowly passed the nearly 900-page legislation Thursday afternoon in a 218–214 vote after Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Trump worked through the night to secure the final votes. The Senate had already approved the bill 51–50 earlier in the week, with Vice President JD Vance breaking the tie.
The sweeping package fulfills a wide array of Trump’s second-term campaign promises. It permanently extends the 2017 Trump tax cuts, eliminates federal taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security benefits, and includes new work requirements for Medicaid and food stamp recipients.
The bill also delivers a massive $150 billion boost to border enforcement and deportation operations, expands defense funding by another $150 billion, and greenlights the construction of the “Golden Dome” missile defense shield across the country.
“This bill ends the estate tax for over two million family farms—especially important here in Iowa,” Trump said. “We’re slashing the green energy handouts, unleashing American oil and gas, and putting working families first.”
Trump touted the economic momentum already underway, crediting his policies for rising wages, rebounding American industries, and growing investor confidence.
“Foreign leaders are calling it: the U.S. is the hottest economy on Earth. We’re bringing back trillions in growth and increasing take-home pay by over $10,000 for the average American family,” he said.
The president is set to sign the bill into law during a 5:00 p.m. ceremony at the White House on July 4, joined by Johnson, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), and key Republican leaders. B-2 bomber pilots involved in the recent strikes on Iran will also attend the celebration, along with a patriotic flyover by the aircraft.
Summing up the impact of the legislation, Trump declared, “The One Big, Beautiful Bill gives us the strongest border on Earth, the strongest economy on Earth, and the strongest military on Earth—ensuring America remains the greatest nation on this planet.”
.@POTUS: “Just as I promised, we’re making the Trump Tax Cuts permanent, and delivering NO TAX ON TIPS, NO TAX ON OVERTIME, and NO TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY… very importantly for Iowa, this bill rescues over 2 million family farms from the so-called estate tax, or the Death Tax.” pic.twitter.com/VndTf9Iu9X
