Trump Rips Democrats Over Food Stamp Ruling, Shares Schumer’s Number Amid Shutdown Chaos

President Donald Trump erupted Friday after two federal judges intervened in the government shutdown dispute over SNAP benefits, demanding that his administration continue funding food stamps — even as Democrats refuse to help end the impasse.

U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani in Massachusetts and U.S. District Judge John McConnell in Rhode Island ordered the administration to continue disbursing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program funds. McConnell went further, instructing the government to tap into emergency reserves to issue payments “as soon as possible.” Talwani’s order gave the administration until November 3 to find a funding method but offered no guidance on how to legally proceed.

Trump responded in a fiery Truth Social post, blasting Democrats for forcing the issue in the first place by refusing to vote on a Republican-backed continuing resolution to reopen the government.

“Our Government lawyers do not think we have the legal authority to pay SNAP with certain monies we have available,” Trump wrote. “And now two Courts have issued conflicting opinions on what we can and cannot do.”

He said he was directing administration attorneys to seek immediate clarification from the courts on how to legally fund the program — and made clear he’s eager to provide the assistance once the legal path is cleared.

“I do NOT want Americans to go hungry just because the Radical Democrats refuse to do the right thing and REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT,” Trump said.

“If we are given the appropriate legal direction by the Court, it will BE MY HONOR to provide the funding, just like I did with Military and Law Enforcement Pay,” he added.

The president also took a direct shot at Democrats, accusing them of using the shutdown as a political weapon and creating unnecessary hardship for low-income families.

“The Democrats should quit this charade where they hurt people for their own political reasons,” he said. “And immediately REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT.”

Trump ended the post by encouraging Americans who rely on SNAP to flood Senate Democrats with calls, and posted the office number of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

“Here is Cryin’ Chuck Schumer’s Office Number: (202) 224-6542,” Trump wrote.

The SNAP debate has become one of the most explosive flashpoints in the government shutdown battle, with Democrats repeatedly blocking Republican-led efforts to reopen the government, insisting on additional provisions, and rejecting compromise proposals. Meanwhile, pressure continues to build as millions of Americans face delays in critical services.

The Trump administration has previously used emergency funding authority to maintain essential government functions — such as military pay — during the shutdown, but lawyers warn the rules around entitlement programs like SNAP are more complex.

The president’s move to call out Schumer directly and post his contact information signals growing frustration from the White House, as Senate Democrats continue to vote in lockstep to block the continuing resolution. With each passing day, the political heat is rising — and Trump appears determined to pin the blame squarely on the left.
