Trump Rips Into Another Blue-State Governor With Presidential Ambitions
President Donald Trump took direct aim at Illinois Governor JB Pritzker while touting his crackdown on crime in Washington, D.C., and floated the idea of sending National Guard troops to other Democrat-run cities if necessary.
Speaking to reporters, Trump made it clear he prefers not to deploy the Guard unless invited but warned that Democrat leaders are often too incompetent or politically motivated to ask for help.
“You really want to be asked to go,” Trump said. “I hate to barge in on a city and then be treated horribly by corrupt politicians and bad politicians—like a guy like Pritzker. He ought to spend more time at the gym, actually.”
Trump then broadened his criticism to include California Governor Gavin Newsom and the mainstream media.
“Gavin Newsom’s a disaster,” Trump said. “We saved Los Angeles. You wouldn’t have been able to have the Olympics there—you’re barely able to have it now. They lost 25,000 homes in a fire that should’ve never happened, because they didn’t let the water flow down from the Pacific Northwest. But nobody wants to write about that.”

Returning to the issue of crime, Trump said he’s tired of being criticized by failed leaders when he steps in to help. “I don’t like going to a place—a city, a state—and being criticized by some corrupt or incompetent governor where crime is rampant,” he said.
“Take a look at D.C.—crime was at an all-time high. It got really bad during the Biden four years. And then I have a mayor stand up and claim crime is at a 30-year low?” Trump continued, pausing for effect. “Thirty-year low? People are being killed left and right. It’s not a 30-year low.”
