Trump Says He’s Open To Jailing Hillary for Russiagate: ‘I Just Want to Be Fair’

President Donald Trump signaled this week that he’s now open to prosecuting Hillary Clinton over her role in the Russiagate hoax, a shift from his earlier restraint during his first term.

Speaking on the “Pod Force One” podcast with New York Post journalist Miranda Devine, Trump reflected on his decision not to pursue legal action against Clinton back in 2016, saying he made the call in the spirit of national unity after winning the election.

“We had Hillary Clinton down to whatever we wanted to do with her,” Trump said. “She’s the wife of a president. She was a Secretary of State. We could’ve done a very big number.” He explained that he didn’t want to be seen as politically vindictive. “We just won. We have to get back to — we want to heal.”

But now, after enduring years of politically motivated investigations stemming from Clinton’s now-discredited Russia dossier, Trump says his position has changed. “I was the one that killed it,” he said of past efforts to prosecute her. “And then they do the same thing to me. I just want to be fair.”

Whether charges will come is not up to him, Trump noted. “Ultimately, it’s up to Pam,” he said, referring to Attorney General Pam Bondi, whom he appointed to head the Department of Justice in his second term.

The shift in tone follows the release of newly declassified documents by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. The material outlines how Clinton and senior Obama-era officials—including former President Barack Obama, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former FBI Director James Comey—were involved in initiating the baseless Russia collusion narrative during the 2016 election.

Gabbard confirmed in a press release that she has referred all involved individuals to the Department of Justice for possible criminal prosecution. “Their goal was to subvert the will of the American people and enact what was essentially a years-long coup,” she said. “No matter how powerful, every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

CIA Director John Ratcliffe added that all major players, including Clinton and top intelligence and law enforcement officials, have been referred to DOJ investigators. Obama, however, is widely believed to have immunity as a former president.

Attorney General Bondi has already taken action, forming a DOJ strike force specifically to investigate the matter. “We will investigate these troubling disclosures fully and leave no stone unturned to deliver justice,” Bondi said. “The Department of Justice is proud to work with my friend Director Gabbard, and we are grateful for her partnership in delivering accountability for the American people.”

Trump has long maintained that the Russia probe was not only a hoax, but a treasonous act aimed at overturning a legitimate election result. With the release of official intelligence pointing squarely at Clinton and top Democrats, the political calculus around accountability has shifted—and so has Trump’s willingness to consider criminal charges.

What was once a campaign chant may now become a serious legal question: Will Hillary Clinton finally be held accountable?
