Trump Says Kyiv Should’ve Launched More Attacks On Russia: ‘Biden Would Not Let Ukraine FIGHT BACK’

President Donald Trump criticized Joe Biden on Thursday for what he described as a failed Ukraine policy that kept Kyiv from launching strong offensive strikes against Russia early in the conflict. In a post on Truth Social, Trump argued that Ukraine should have been permitted to “fight back” if it ever had a chance of winning.

“It is very hard, if not impossible, to win a war without attacking an invader’s country,” Trump wrote. “It’s like a great team in sports that has a fantastic defense, but is not allowed to play offense. There is no chance of winning!”

Trump added, “Crooked and grossly incompetent Joe Biden would not let Ukraine FIGHT BACK, only DEFEND. How did that work out? Regardless, this is a war that would have NEVER happened if I were President – ZERO CHANCE.”

During the early stages of the war, the Biden administration hesitated to provide Ukraine with long-range missile systems capable of striking Russian territory. That changed last November, when Biden authorized the use of American-made missiles inside Russia for the first time.

At the time, Trump — then president-elect — sharply criticized the move. “I disagree very vehemently with sending missiles hundreds of miles into Russia. Why are we doing that? We’re just escalating this war and making it worse,” he said, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Trump’s latest comments come as Russian drone and missile strikes continue to target Ukrainian cities, and just as diplomatic discussions appear to be underway behind the scenes. The Kremlin is reportedly weighing whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the coming weeks.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump’s remarks were “an observation, which happens to be true,” per the Journal.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday cast doubt on the possibility of a Putin-Zelensky summit, suggesting the Kremlin would demand veto power over any proposed security guarantees for Ukraine. Lavrov also insisted that China must be part of any final agreement.

Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff stated that during Trump’s recent summit with Putin, the Russian leader agreed — for the first time — to U.S. and European-led security guarantees for Ukraine, signaling a potential shift in Moscow’s negotiating posture.
