Trump Threatens Action If Zohran Mamdani Tries To Block ICE: ‘We’ll Have To Arrest Him’

President Donald Trump issued a blunt warning Tuesday to New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, saying he’d be willing to take action if the far-left Democrat attempts to block Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from doing their jobs.

“Well, we’ll just have to arrest him,” Trump said while touring “Alligator Alcatraz,” a former federal facility in the Florida Everglades now being restored to detain illegal immigrants. “We don’t need a communist in this country — but if we have one, I’ll be watching him very closely on behalf of the nation.”

Mamdani, a self-described Democratic Socialist and current Queens Assemblyman, recently defeated disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic mayoral primary. He has called ICE agents “fascists” and promised to resist Trump’s immigration enforcement policies if elected.

Trump said his administration would not allow local officials to obstruct federal law enforcement and suggested that funding for New York City could be on the chopping block if Mamdani followed through on his threats.

“If he gets in, I’ll be president — and he’s going to have to do the right thing,” Trump said. “If not, no more money. He’s not going to take our dollars and turn around and block ICE while harboring criminals.”

The president also noted the disparity in federal funding, saying that per capita, New York receives nearly three times what Florida does. “It’s outrageous,” Trump said, turning to Governor Ron DeSantis during the visit.

Asked about Mamdani’s vow to interfere with ICE operations, Border Czar Tom Homan shrugged off the threat.

“Game on,” Homan said. “He wants to block ICE? We’ll see how that works out for him.”
