Trump Trashes Comey Ahead Of Possible Indictment: ‘He’s A Sick Person’
President Donald Trump didn’t hold back Thursday when asked about former FBI Director James Comey, calling him a “sick person” and slamming his leadership at the Bureau as “terrible.”
Speaking from the Oval Office during a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Trump addressed reports that Comey may soon face criminal charges related to his 2020 congressional testimony on the Russia investigation.
“I can’t tell you what’s going to happen because I don’t know,” Trump said. “They are very professional people, headed up by the Attorney General. They’re going to make a determination. I think I’d be allowed to get involved if I want, but I don’t really choose to do so.”

Then he pivoted to Comey directly: “I can only say that Comey is a bad person. He’s a sick person, I think he’s a sick guy actually. He did terrible things at the FBI. But I don’t know. I have no idea what’s going to happen.”
The sharp rebuke comes as DOJ sources confirm an indictment is on the table. Investigative journalist Carol Leonnig said the timing is tied to the five-year statute of limitations for perjury and false statements to Congress — which expires this month.
“They are arguing that Comey — there is evidence to suggest Comey lied to Congress in his testimony on the Hill in September of 2020,” Leonnig said on MSNBC. “The five-year statute runs this month.”
Comey’s potential indictment would mark a dramatic turning point in the long-running debate over the FBI’s conduct in the Russia investigation, which Trump has repeatedly called a “hoax” and a politically motivated hit job.
