Trump’s Chaotic Strategy: Way Worse Than Biden’s Worst Day

It’s a flurry of questionable activity ever since Donald Trump returned to the presidential seat. With an unquestioning Republican Congress at his back, Trump has seized the opportunity to imprint his chaotic decision-making on federal structures and foreign policies. The endgame, however, remains shrouded in ambiguity; most of his executive orders appear to be lofty aims rather than executable strategies.

Trump’s goals often clash against each other, thereby injecting an element of instability. A prime example of this is his overtly contradicting aims to reduce cost of living and impose tariffs on imported goods, which will likely inflate prices. This doesn’t seem like a well thought-through plan, reflecting what appears to be the lack of strategic coherence in his administration.

The legality of his actions has been constantly challenged. Trump faces litigation over a series of hasty, radical initiatives. Is he playing by the rules, or is he bending them unscrupulously? The cloud of uncertainty regarding the lawfulness of his actions remains.

Trump’s push for stricter border control seems to be one of his few clear strategies, as reports suggest a decrease in illegal border crossings. This, however, speaks more about an atmosphere of fear and intimidation than any constructive policy decisions.

One cannot ignore Trump’s declaration to slash energy costs to half or even less within a span of a year or on the outside, a year and a half. Whether it’s an audacious promise or a hollow pledge to woo his base is for time to tell.

Trump has brazenly escalated tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China, broadening the scope of import taxes further. These imported goods tax spikes, applied unpredictably, have sent shockwaves through the stock market, fueling instability and insecurity.

Promising peace between Russia and Ukraine just by clinching an electoral victory seems more like a fairytale promise than a strategic foreign policy. Trump’s assurance, unfortunately, remains unfulfilled, casting doubts on his effectiveness as an international negotiator.

For Trump, tax cuts are on the horizon. The said plan involves removing taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security payments, and making his temporary tax cuts, enacted earlier, permanent. But his promise, like many before it, remains to be realized.

By aiming his guns at higher educational institutions, Trump seems to be picking unnecessary battles. His focus on purported antisemitism on campuses and an alleged ‘threat’ from foreign students veer away from addressing major challenges facing higher education.

His excessive intervention extends beyond prestigious institutions like Harvard. Numerous foreign students across American schools are now facing the axe because of Trump’s sudden revocation of their legal status. It’s another classic example of his chaotic strategy.

Various cultural establishments have found themselves in the midst of Trump’s unstructured agenda. Past endeavors have been abruptly halted, and seemingly harmless references to diversity in federal communications have been crudely eliminated, signaling a nauseating trend of revisionism.

The Pentagon is no exception to this revisionist wave. Unsurprisingly, a painstaking overhaul seems to be under way there as well. Trust Trump to muddy the waters everywhere, right?

Trump’s stance on transgender rights in sports echoes his continued infringement on individual liberties. Seeking the Supreme Court’s acceptance to override lower courts and expel transgender troops from the military, this is yet another regressive move.

Trump’s energy policy appears to be tied to fossil fuels. Signing executive orders to boost oil, natural gas, and coal production could portend disastrous implications for the environment. How such actions align with contemporary clean energy ideologies is a question left unanswered.

Another controversial move by Trump was aimed at terminating California’s federal exemption to phase out the sale of gas-powered cars by 2035. The implementation roadblock that this executive order faces eerily reflects the usual gap between Trump’s ambitious pronouncements and reliable, effective policy action.

Looking at Trump’s strategies or the lack thereof, his tenure so far poses more questions than answers. One can only hope that sense prevails before more damage is done, and major course corrections can be strategized.
