Vance Tears Into Democrats, Calls Out Gavin Newsom After Dallas ICE Shooting: ‘You Can Go Straight To Hell’

Vice President JD Vance didn’t hold back Wednesday, unloading on California Governor Gavin Newsom and Democrats at large following the deadly shooting at a Dallas ICE facility that left one migrant detainee dead and two others wounded.

Speaking at an event in Concord, North Carolina, Vance slammed what he called the reckless anti-law enforcement rhetoric coming from the left — and singled out Newsom by name for encouraging violence.

“The very people who keep us safe ought to be honored and protected and praised by Democrats and Republicans alike,” Vance said. “It is time to stop the rhetorical assaults on law enforcement.”

He took direct aim at Newsom, whose Tuesday night appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert included calling the Trump administration an “authoritarian government.”

“When Democrats like Gavin Newsom say that these people are part of an authoritarian government… when the left-wing media lies about what they’re doing, they’re encouraging crazy people to go and commit violence,” Vance warned.

“You don’t have to agree with my immigration policies, you don’t have to agree with Donald Trump’s immigration policies, but if your political rhetoric encourages violence against our law enforcement, you can go straight to hell and you have no place in the political conversation of the United States of America.”

Newsom fired back on social media: “No thanks, JD. I will not be going ‘straight to hell’ today. Though when I watch you speak I certainly feel like I’m already there.”

The Democratic governor doubled down during his Colbert appearance, accusing ICE of “pulling out guns and handcuffing” a disabled teen in Los Angeles. He claimed Trump’s ramped-up immigration enforcement has led to “masked men jumping out of unmarked cars. People disappearing. No due process. No oversight. Zero accountability.”

“People ask, ‘Well, is authoritarianism you being hyperbolic?’ Bulls—t we’re being hyperbolic,” Newsom said. “If you’re a black or brown community, it’s here in this country.”

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that all victims of Wednesday morning’s shooting were ICE detainees. From the rooftop of a nearby government building, 29-year-old Joshua Jahn opened fire on an unmarked van transporting migrant detainees to a Dallas ICE processing facility. Jahn later took his own life as law enforcement closed in.

Investigators found shell casings marked with “ANTI-ICE” at the scene. The FBI has confirmed they are treating the incident as a politically motivated attack.

Vance, echoing other Republicans, said the escalation of violent rhetoric has real consequences.

“When you dehumanize law enforcement, you’re throwing fuel on the fire. We’ve already seen three separate attacks on ICE and CBP just in Texas this summer. Enough is enough.”
