White House Launches “Media Bias” Website Featuring Hall of Shame and Weekly Offenders
The White House unveiled a new website Friday aimed at calling out what it describes as “left-wing media bias,” complete with weekly offenders, an “Offender Hall of Shame,” and a leaderboard tracking the most frequent media “offenders.”
CBS News, the Boston Globe, and the Independent were the first to receive the designation of “Media Offender of the Week,” after reporting on President Donald Trump’s comments regarding Democrat lawmakers who accused him of giving illegal military orders.
Those reports came in response to a video released by six Democrats—Sen. Elissa Slotkin, Sen. Mark Kelly, and Reps. Maggie Goodlander, Jason Crow, Chrissy Houlahan, and Chris Deluzio—urging military and intelligence personnel to “refuse illegal orders.” The video did not specify which orders they considered unlawful but heavily implied Trump had issued some.
Trump responded on Truth Social by calling the video “dangerous” and accusing the lawmakers of “seditious behavior.” He wrote, “LOCK THEM UP???” and followed up with: “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”
The White House website, structured like a fact-checking portal, disputes the media’s interpretation of Trump’s response.
Under a section titled “The Offense,” it says:
“The media misrepresented President Trump’s call for Members of Congress to be held accountable for inciting sedition by saying that he called for their ‘execution.’”
The rebuttal under “The Truth” reads:
“The Democrats and Fake News Media subversively implied that President Trump had issued illegal orders to service members. Every order President Trump has issued has been lawful. It is dangerous for sitting Members of Congress to incite insubordination in the United States military, and President Trump called for them to be held accountable.”
The site’s “Offender Hall of Shame” currently features the Washington Post, CBS News, CNN, and MSNBC. A running list of false or misleading claims is also included, categorized under labels like “Bias,” “Malpractice,” “Lie,” and “Left-wing lunacy.”
At the top of the leaderboard of offenders is The Washington Post, followed by MSNBC and CBS News. CNN, the New York Times, Politico, and the Wall Street Journal also make the list.
Administration officials say the website is part of a broader push to hold media accountable in an election cycle they say is already riddled with misinformation and partisan distortion.
