Trump Orders Flags Lowered To Half Staff In Charlie Kirk’s Honor
President Donald Trump has ordered that all American flags be flown at half-staff through Sunday evening to honor conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was killed Wednesday in a campus shooting.
“In honor of Charlie Kirk, a truly Great American Patriot, I am ordering all American Flags throughout the United States lowered to Half Mast until Sunday evening at 6 P.M.,” Trump announced on Truth Social.
Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, during a stop on his “American Comeback Tour.” The shooting occurred roughly 20 minutes into his remarks, triggering chaos as students and attendees scrambled for safety. The suspected shooter remains at large.
Following the tragedy, social media was flooded with an outpouring of grief, prayers, and support for Kirk’s wife Erika and their two young children.
President Trump confirmed Kirk’s death in a statement posted hours later:
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
